WOW.

This thing is amazing. I have no photos to share as I've just taken some of my son and I don't share family photos online. But wow. The image quality is incredible, certainly has that Leica look. Blows the Fuji's out of the water. The focus is smooth and mechanical. The EVF is excellent. I can handhold shoot this thing at 1/5 of a second with no issues. Pin point focussing at 1.7. For anyone finding this thread via Google who has the same questions I did - buy the camera. Buy it now.

For such a small difference in price, I would definitely buy new.

I have had lots of Leicas and even had a X100T for a while. In every way, the Q blows away the X100T, including IQ, speed, autofocus, dependability, and haptics. No comparison IMHO.

Battery life is good enough that I never think about it. I get at least 250 raw images per battery. I have three batteries, but have never gone beyond two in a day.

In terms of haptics, I love the Q. It reminds me a lot of my extensive experience with different Leica Ms. It’s a basic camera, with few gizmos and simple menus. I pretty much set it and go, using a mix of auto and manual focus.

Also, I really like a simple shooting experience, with one camera and one lens. While there were times when I initially wished the Q had a 35mm, I have gotten used to it and really don’t think about it anymore.

I bought a mint condition Q last year, barely used, for $3,400 (about 2,405 British pounds). Have been happily clicking away ever since and take it with me everywhere. It would literally be my last camera for a VERY long time (if not forever) but for its lack of weather sealing. If the release a Q with weather sealing, then I'll be all over it and will sell my existing Q.

Have you tried actual shooting with 35mm framing? I find it works well if you consider it an upgraded X camera. At the press of a button you are back to full frame and 28mm. There is also a 50mm option with results suitable for personal use.

Hi all. What SD cards do you al use? Ive had a couple of lock ups and wonder if the card is to blame.

SanDisk Extreme Pro 280MB/s (and 95MB/s) 16GB with no problems. If you think it is the card buy a new one and see how you go then but I would be surprised if it is the card, provided it is from a reputable manufacturer.

+1. I use the same Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. Never had a problem.

If you haven't done it already, update your firmware. That usually solves some common SD card issues. Glad you're enjoying the Q. If anything, I think it's an underrated camera! It took me a while to really love it...about 9 months or so. But I now consider this Leica's best all-around camera. I've used mine to shoot just about everything, including the occasional commercial assignment. My only wish is for better battery life and the ability to remap the video button which I never use.

watching a video with Joel Meyerowitz the other day (supreme Leica street photographer), he said it generally takes him around 10,000 photos to really understand a new camera.

That's a lot of film to burn through — no wonder he was so prolific!
