Aber doch! Mann braucht nur ein Noctilux! :)

Auch mit einem Noctilux braucht man wenigstens ein klein wenig Licht (z.B. eine Kerze)! ;)

Ganz ohne Licht geht´s auch mit Noctilux nicht!

Watch out, Earley, Andy has an airstrip, and will use it if he deems it necessary! :)

I look forward to the Berlin One this year, but this is getting very off-topic. Does everyone have a hotel lined up?

.............. so there are people who have the forum in mind and then there are the individials who want it their way only and try to impose their will.

Not photos in the Photo forum really about ego and thet posting there is beneath their level of expertise, there isn't exactly a hub of fantastic photographers here to warrant that attitude. If people want their own "club"....... well form your own site it's pretty easy these days but there is no need to impose an individual's needs upon someone else's forum.

No one us forcing anyone to participate and post here....................................... but there are some here, who will not be happy until it ts set up exactly how they want it and would censor comments that they don't like if they could.

Imants, quite honestly I have no idea what you meant here. None at all.

A photo to illustrate a point is purposefull. A photo taken with a particular lens saying this is taken with a 24mm XXXXXX and here are another 20 is pretty useless. If one explains what has happened in the image with using that particular lens why not? The image should be used to back up the post directly

.. once you place an image within a public based domain, you no longer contol what happens nor can you isolate it. No different to what happens to an image in a magazine

in the end if a person posts crap, eventually someone will call it exactly for what it is worth

I cannot understand why you express yourself so clearly in some posts and are so opaque in others. I admire and value your anarchistic streak and think you a very very fine make of images...but there are times when I read your posts and think, 'what does he mean?'

............ ????????

Guy, without wanting to make a point of it in any kind of way, I am kinda agreeing with Imants (this one time only, I promise). If someone posts photos, I think comments are fair game.

Of course, if you are posting Germany shots and Imants doesn't enjoy them, and says so, you are free to ignore him, but stopping people from posting their opinion would lead to a quite restrictive policy in general. In this particular case, I would point out that if there is a person whose comments you consistently do not enjoy, you should use the Ignore-list to deal with that, which lets everyone get on with their lives in a free kind of way. I have about 10 people on my ignore list at this point, and it keeps me happier.

C'mon, share....

:-)

Share what, my Ignore-list??? No way, this is personal. I wouldn't want to "insult" the people on it, this is just what keeps me happy. I do sometimes read and respond to the people on my list. It is just an extra step to read these posts, and most of the time, I don't need to. It is a good tool. I tend to put people on it who are consistently negative or hard to read.

I have. And so has my wife.

:)

We have booked the Hotel Angleterre, which is 100 yards from Checkpoint Charlie, apparently.

As I newbie here, I would like to know what event this is? Not inviting myself, just curious...

Good luck Andy, I can only imagine the controversy if you dare post the M8 photos in the PHOTO FORUM!!!!

If I had an M8 (which I don't), I would most certainly post my shots in the photo forum, especially if they were from Berlin.

As it is, I promised Rona|d what I will use in October, so I daren't go back on that now ;)

Well, that's very patriotic of you :)

It may be 100 yards from Checkpoint Charlie (looks likely on Berlin maps), but you will have some travel time to our biergarten. On the other hand, you are walking distance from Brandenburger Tor, Tiergarten and the Reichstag. Have you been in Berlin recently?

Everyone, but everyone is invited Tim. I'd love to see 100 M8 users in the bar at the start of this year's "Challenge".

See what you are missing by restricting yourself to the M8 forum? I told you there is a big wide world out here...

Never been to Berlin, so October will be very interesting.

The biergarten is on the tube (more or less). That's just the starting point, so it's where you end up after two hours that's important ;)

(We have to stay SOMEWHERE. Many hotels are the other end of the Tiergarten, which is no good to anyone)

If you stroll down to Stadtmitte, you can catch the U2 north (Pankow), and get off at Eberswalderstraße, and in three minutes you will be there. Where you are is nice and central. Don't miss the major photo exhibitions, likely at C|O Berlin, Martin-Gropius-Bau, Museum für Photograpfie, and a few other places. In Auguststraße you will find lots of free galleries.

Man would I enjoy that! And my education so far has not included Berlin, a clear oversight. But I am pencilled for a west to east coast photo trip from Seattle to Boston over that date. Hire cars and motels, Montana in the early fall, Chicago, the last bit of the USA I have yet to 'do'.

Berlin will always be there though!

Tim, Berlin is changing very rapidly. If you want to visit here at all, do so soon. It was one of the great deals of the century after the wall came down, and strangely, it is still rather affordable. In the 5 1/2 years I have been here though, the prices have risen sharply, so sooner is better than later.

Oddly, the two places you have missed are two places I have been: Montana and Chicago :) In Montana, I recall getting a $10 speeding ticket, payable on the spot, for going way too fast, once upon a time, and in Chicago, be sure to visit the Art Institute and take pictures of The Loop.
