mikemgb Posted February 6, 2018 Share #21 Posted February 6, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recommend the wonderful little Minox tripod. It screws up inside itself so it takes up little more space than a ballpoint pen, is all metal so is rigid and will easily hold a M camera and lens, and has a remote release built into it. They go for £30 to £40 on ebay and I've carried one in my camera bag permanently for the past 15 years or so - I wouldn't be without it. I recommend watching the video clip at the link. Pete. That is wonderful! Heading to eBay now......

Lufizer Posted February 6, 2018 Author Share #22 Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) This "Minox Tripod" looks like a solution for old fashioned Leica nerds, very mechanical and built to last a lifetime. Very interesting! Is the integrated cable release compatible with Leica M10? Edited February 6, 2018 by Lufizer

bocaburger Posted February 9, 2018 Share #26 Posted February 9, 2018 Hello Everybody, I prefer a larger & more solid Ball Head on a small, solid Table Tripod. For many years I have used a medium sized version of the Leitz/Leica Large Ball Head which has come in a variety of sizes over the years. Unlike the Leitz/Leica Small Ball Head which seems to have only come in more or less 1 size over the years. Don't forget to have soft & non-marking slippers on the tripod feet for when you want to put the tripod against a wall, in or at the top of a doorway, against a tree or a rock, or on a car with the engine turned off. Also don't forget a cable release which not only makes a tripod easier to use but is also sometimes handy on the camera by itself, without a tripod, in some situations. Best Regards, Michael I have a slew of Leitz ballheads. The early small ones were very solid, the last one (black anodized finish w/silver cap) didn't hold as steady. It's also the only one without the grooved ball. In the film days, the tall ballhead was convenient for vertical shots due to the location of the tripod attachment at one end of the Leica. Now with the central location it doesn't matter as much. The best IMO Leitz ballheads are the ones with dual-threads (1/4" and 3/8") which let me share one head between the table pod and regular tripod.

Stein K S Posted February 13, 2018 Share #34 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) Manfrotto 210b... similar to other table tripod options mentioned here. But nice and current. Edited February 13, 2018 by Stein K S
mr_big Posted February 13, 2018 Share #35 Posted February 13, 2018 I'm also a fan of the Manfrotto tabletop tripods. A whole lot cheaper than the one offered by Leica.
Tailwagger Posted February 13, 2018 Share #36 Posted February 13, 2018 I second the concern about stability of the Gorillapod. I had one once, got rid of it, never got another. Another voice in the anti column. After I got it, I never used it. Might be great for a GoPro, but I'd never put an M on one.
PCPix Posted February 20, 2018 Share #37 Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) Bought my Leitz table top tripod in 1985 - it was ancient then.... and it is remarkably solid. It's lived in my camera bag permanently ever since, seeing more use as a Speedlight stand than as a tripod - however it will hold a Canon EOS1DX and a 70-200/2.8 straignt and level - and as a joke I once put a 400/2.8 on it and it held firm. Works perfectly with an M and a 35 ;-) Fits in the sidepocket of a Billingham practically unnoticed... Welcome, dear visitor! rramesh Posted February 21, 2018 Share #38 Posted February 21, 2018 The Leica tabletop tripod is amazing. Works well against any rigid structure (walls, columns, floor etc.). The large ballhead is best as one can hold it for better support. I would not carry it though on my belt in most places.

Herr Barnack Posted February 26, 2018 Share #40 Posted February 26, 2018 You might want to give some thought to using a monopod; I have found them to be quite useful and versatile...
