The weather forecast for Nijmegen on Saturday 30th is for clear skies and sunny weather reaching 30 degrees. B)

Pete.

Yes, that why we have to take hat's, umbrella's and swimming-suits. We can plunge in the river. I never guessed the plan would be so watertight..

I prefer the rain to 30C. Call me misery guts.

I understand that it will be 28 degrees and we are near the water almost all the time so let's hope the will be a light breese from the river.. Today I talked to the café owners and the Odessa restaurant.  It will be no problem to sit outside with our group if we like. And maybe we get a nice thunderstorm at the end of the day Ravi so everybody will be happy. ;)  :) . I sat today at " De blaauwe hand / The blue hand , where they have an excellent beer this year called " 476 " . That's the number of  years this  café is already open. Shot some photo's today, also of this café. Maybe we can reroute if it is to long a walk for the temperature and just stay the rest of the day in the shade of the church here :) or we can go there after dinner, it will be a nice evening with such temperatures.

The program up till now will be.I made some changes today, to limit the walking distance to 10.000 meters.

By car arriving: Parking: Keizer Karel garage, Van Schaeck Mathonsingel 22, 6512 AR Nijmegen 550m

Railway: Central station Nijmgen:

650m.

10:30 Meeting near the station. I Have reserved for 20 persons in Cafe van Buren:

Café van Buren Molenstraat 89 6511 HB Nijmegen

We have “windowseats” there or we go on the terras if the weather allows.

11:30 distance 260 meters: We might peak in the “Vereniging “ the concert building nearby (still negotiating)  where there is a reconstruction at the time. The concert building is renowned with musicians for its great acoustics resembling the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, but smaller.

https://www.stadsschouwburgendevereeniging.nl/zakelijk/Concertzaal/

Walking to and around the “Valkhof” “distance 800m.

Het Valkhof. “https://nl.wikipedia...eum_Het_Valkhof

https://www.museumhetvalkhof.nl

Or visit an exhibition with bad weather. Walking to downtown Nijmegen. 400m.

to the Market where there will be a Market on Saturday.

Visit the medieval surroundings of the church.

Stroll along the old shops 1000m

Walk into the old industrial area of the “Honig“- mill at the Waalbandijk. 1000m.

13:30/14:00 Lunch at “Stoom” or’ Steam”: Waalbandijk 14D 6541 AJ Nijmegen a simple pulled pork or cheese bread with something to drink. It’s a hipster place so we might meet interesting models.  I reserved for 20 persons.

15:00/15:30 Walking over the railway – bridge (don't complain about the distance, in WWII the allied forces had to row across...) Seeing the waterworks and bridges recently build. And walking the bridges of the new island  ”Veur Lent“. If you really like you can also swim as do people with nice weather here 2500m

16:30/17:00 Having some drinks with “bitterballs” on the Island. " Veur Lent ". at Cafe Waalzicht:

This Island is recently made. They dug away a huge pile of sand, making an extra river/lake to give more room for the river and its rising water. I’m bringing an old map to show what has changed.

The program uptill now will be, things can change, but don’t count on it. It’s a nice walk but keep in mind, that big parts of the walk are in open air so an umbrella for sun or rain might be in order.

10;30 Meeting near the station. I Have reserved for 25 persons in Cafe van Buren:

Café van Buren Molenstraat 89 6511 HB Nijmegen

( to Train station 600m  8 minutes walk )

We have “windowseats” there or we go on the terras if the weather allows. The café shows of with the fact that our King recently was sitting here, getting drunk together with his student mates.

By car arriving: Parking: Keizer Karel garage, Van Schaeck Mathonsingel 22, 6512 AR Nijmegen 550m

11:40 We peak in the “Vereniging “ the concert building nearby (still negotiating) where there is a reconstruction at the time. The concert building is renowned with musicians for its great acoustics resembling the famous Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, but smaller.

 ( 250 m, 3 min. walk )

11.40 uur at the main entrance.

There Irene Verkuijl, co-worker of the “Vereeniging ” will be waiting for us.

We walk around in the building, watching the renovation, which might make nice pictures.  We also walk through the main hall which resembles the “ Concertgebouw”  , Amsterdam in a way. Irene will also tell a little story about the building.

to the Market where there will be a Market on Saturday.

Visit the medieval surroundings of the church.

13:30/14:00 Lunch at “Stoom” or’ Steam”: Waalbandijk 14D 6541 AJ Nijmegen a Burgerlunch or as an alternative a Goat-cheese-avocado sandwich ( is that all right with you Jaap? ) with something to drink. It’s a hipster place so we might meet interesting models.  I reserved for 25 persons.

15:00/15:30 Walking over the railway – bridge (don't complain about the distance, in WWII the allied forces had to row across...) Seeing the waterworks and bridges recently build. So take your swimsuits and towels (but don’t hitchhike with a spaceship…) if you want to. The others can make great pictures of the ones who are swimming.
