jaapv Posted January 2, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 2, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) When walking the dogs, I found this group of people in the water, doing nothing. Miserable drizzle, water temperature 7ºC, air temperature 9ºC, with wind chill 3ºC. Completely puzzled. CL, 55-135 BTW, the dam in the background is one of our main defenses against flooding. With extreme high tides and storm, the shutters are wound down. The other side is open sea. Welcome, dear visitor! stuny Posted January 2, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 2, 2018 They are members of NUKA -Netherlands Ugly Knee Association, doing their annual simultaneous hiding of their knees. The association does a lot of good, charitable works, but never in shorts. Good catch. Happy New Year.

dkCambridgeshire Posted January 7, 2018 Share #7 Posted January 7, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe that's Jono on the RHS testing a Leica prototype But could be a religious sect seeking divine inspiration. All wearing chest waders; so maybe the chap on the RHS is taking publicity / advertising photos for chest waders? … or thermal underwear? Or could be a wacky fly fishermen's convention Or a rubber fetishists' GTG dunk
StS Posted January 7, 2018 Share #8 Posted January 7, 2018 I like the single yellow spot, whatever they are doing. The inscription on the tide gauge down the street says: Wohr Di, wenn de Blanke Hans kummt. Stefan

dkCambridgeshire Posted January 7, 2018 Share #10 Posted January 7, 2018 (edited) A more likely explanation is: A group of policemen? servicemen? fire & rescue personnel / paramedics? … or similar … being trained in the use of chest waders. And why not do it in adverse conditions? Remember the 1953 North Sea floods .. Is the locality liable to flooding ... thus requiring trained 'rescue' crews? dunk Edited January 7, 2018 by dkCambridgeshire
