Bill W Posted December 30, 2017 Share #6 Â Posted December 30, 2017 Have you checked eBay? I was looking for another battery for my Hasselblad X1D and found one for less that half it retail price and yes I was skeptical but for only $60 I took a chance and it was an official Hasselblad battery and works perfectly. bherman01545 Posted December 30, 2017 Share #8 Â Posted December 30, 2017 I few comments... Â I too have seen some variation in prices of SL batteries. This is normally attributed to the fact that authorized dealers typically do not discount them. The batteries (I believe) are made by Panasonic, but they are proprietary to the SL (i.e. they do not work on other cameras) I haven't seen any aftermarket batteries for the SL, but wouldn't insert a non-OEM battery in fear that they may have cheap cells which may be prone to leaking and would subsequently damage your camera or void your warranty. Â I use Lumix branded batteries on my Leica Q since they are 100% identical and cost 1/2 of the price. Â I have close to $20k invested in SL gear, and wouldn't scrimp on the batteries. If you call a couple of dealers and say that you want three batteries, they may cut you a discount.
darylgo Posted December 30, 2017 Share #9  Posted December 30, 2017 The LFI shop has a low price on these batteries, they will not ship them to the US, other regions I am not sure.  https://lfi-online.de/ceemes/en/shop/akku-leica-sl-bp-scl4-1004805.html  Re: third party batteries. I learned my lesson with M9 batteries, my charger was temperamental subsequent to non-proprietary battery charging. The charger would work but it would require several placements of the Leica branded batteries for the lights to indicate properly. Comparatively Leica battery prices are expensive, but it's part of the price we pay for the brand and all the beneficial aspects we derive from their products, and not unlike Leica gear in general the differences can be recouped when the item is sold.

Irakly Shanidze Posted January 4, 2018 Share #14  Posted January 4, 2018 Nitecore  charger appears to be a great thing. I got one after my OEM charger got stolen in addition to a newly ordered replacement. Sitting side-by-side, Leica and Nitecore chargers take about the same amount of time to get the battery full. Not to mention, Nitecore does it for 1/10 of the Leica charger price

I was looking for another battery for my Hasselblad X1D and found one for less that half it retail price and yes I was skeptical but for only $60 I took a chance and it was an official Hasselblad battery and works perfectly. Good luck. I had a battery and charger stolen and ebay did not offer any viable options except for one used battery for $160, which I bought.
