Abram Posted May 27, 2018 Share #61 Posted May 27, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I also should mention I really don't care too much about scuffs and scratches on my cameras. It happens. I use them and that's that. I did try the Leica one but immediately returned it as I did not like how thick and chunky it felt. Just wasn't for me. The Arte Di Mano one at least is a little more snug and also a little shorter since it removes the baseplate of the camera so you can have a battery access door (which I do like. I see this as an ergonomic improvement). I just don't want the camera to feel too chunky in my hands but I wouldn't mind a little extra grip. I'll keep it in mind but I'm in no rush. Kennethjk Posted June 5, 2018 Share #62 Posted June 5, 2018 I have the Leica half case and don’t bother to screw it on as it fits firmly on and doesn’t fall off, so removing case to change battery isn’t terrible but not as easy as the one for my Q that has a battery flap

budjames Posted July 1, 2018 Share #65 Posted July 1, 2018 I have the Leica half cases for my two M10s. I use them with the flap installed to protect the LCD screens. When I can a single camera on a strap, the half cases provide great protection. For travel vacations, my M10s and a few lenses are carried in a Billingham Hadley Pro bag. I don't use the half cases in this situation, although I pack one half case in my luggage to have if I decide to just use for body and lens for the day. Keith_W Posted July 2, 2018 Share #66 Posted July 2, 2018 Why you want a Leica half case: - it fits really snugly. - it has a removable back flap - the subtle hand grip works well. Not as secure as the aftermarket hand grip but it's good enough. - leather is really high quality and it looks great Why you don't want a Leica half case: - For some reason, the bottom plate is really thick. It increases the height of your M10. - Uses up the tripod socket - The screw that fastens it on does not have a thumb ring. You need to fish around for a coin to take it off. - It is HARD to take off - not only the inconvenient screw mentioned above, but the snug fit means it won't come off easily. And remember, you need to take it off every time you want to access battery/SD card, which means pretty often. I decided that the Leica half case was not for me.

Kennethjk Posted July 5, 2018 Share #68 Posted July 5, 2018 Thanks. Do you leave the "shim" panel in the case? No I don’t use the shim. I think you use that only when you don’t use the flap that protects the screen
Kevinfinity Posted July 7, 2018 Share #69 Posted July 7, 2018 (edited) New Toy! Leica M10 by Kevin-Xu, on Flickr New Toy! Leica M10 by Kevin-Xu, on Flickr New Toy! Leica M10 by Kevin-Xu, on Flickr So far, Luigi Leather case is still my favorite. I've owned an M9 Luigi half case for 8 years already. As time goes by, the leather case just becomes more and more lustrous and beautiful. So I go straight to the Luigi leather case again for my Leica M10. plantagoo Posted July 8, 2018 Share #70 Posted July 8, 2018 (edited) Hi. Got this one from eBay. It seems to be made of leather, costs around 95€, replaces the bottom plate, has a magnetic flap which gives access to the battery and the SD card, it also has a tripod „screw“ at the original placement. I love it. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.de%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F352329770116 Greetings Erik Welcome, dear visitor! Rob L Posted July 9, 2018 Share #71 Posted July 9, 2018 That looks like a decent copy of the Arte de Mano. I love the fact that these cases do away with the straps and snaps, that while protecting the body from strap wear, tend to make the camera more bulky and they hit the bridge of my nose is the worst possible place

The case in the picture seems to have a perfect fit, just like the Arte Di Mano cases. Can you share some more images showing the details? Does it stay really tight? How's the aligment to the screen and buttons on the back? And what about the battery door? I was just trying to find references about these chinese cases with battery access door, but for the M240. I believe they're all made by the same manufacturer. In fact I contacted your supplier and they confirmed they have the M240 version in stock. But I had a terrible experience with a cheaper case sometime ago. It was a total waste of money, as I ended up never using it. I really appreciate if you can share some advice. o> Best regards, Ali
IkarusJohn Posted August 14, 2018 Share #74 Posted August 14, 2018 (edited) Go naked. Getting half cases on and off to change batteries and get to the SD card gets old really quickly. The cameras are beautiful just as they are - enjoy the feel, the finish and live with the wear ... PS - I have had a Luigi half case (kicking about in a drawer somewhere) for my M9. I decided I preferred the slim feel of the camera over the bulk of the camera and half case (also, I lost one of the little suede dots that cover one of the domes, and didn't want to scratch the camera with the metal). I also had a Chinese half case (really thin, soft black leather) for an MP I had - it fit like a glove, but it had the same problem - tiresome to remove to change film. Gave up on them. charleswang Posted August 16, 2018 Share #75 Posted August 16, 2018 Go naked +1 And get a thumb up if you need the additional grip. The only part of the camera that gets the most wear is the bottom plate - which is easily replaceable for $300 or so - cheaper than most premium cases https://leicastoremiami.com/collections/m-system-camera-accessories/products/leica-baseplate-for-m10-silver?variant=42442971600
ellisson Posted August 20, 2018 Share #76 Posted August 20, 2018 The Lim's case with the tripod mounting plate on the bottom looks interesting. I don't mind removing a case for battery and card access. It appears to me that this case allows quick and secure tripod mounting with an Arca-swiss style tripod clamp without removing the case. I assume this case replaces the M10 bottom plate. Is this how others use the Lim's case?

It replaces the bottom plate and has a very nicely fit hinged cover to quickly access battery and card. 1
pklein Posted November 15, 2018 Share #78 Posted November 15, 2018 (edited) Has anyone had issues with moisture getting into the camera when using an “easy access to battery/SD” case that eliminates the bottom plate? If you get any moisture into the camera while using that type half case you have go a lot of other problems.
Guest Posted November 15, 2018 Share #80 Posted November 15, 2018 I'm using the Leica 1/2 case on mine and I find the fit and build quality very good, Arte De Mano is also very good, I had those 1/2 cases on my previous M bodies. As for the Luigi cases I had one of those on my first M and I found the build/fit quality to be inferior to both of the others. Neil
