chriscove Posted December 18, 2017 Share #1 Â Posted December 18, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) A quick question. Do you get focus magnification (using the right dial) with M or Voigtlander lenses when using 3rd party adaptors like Fotodiox or Novoflex? Â I am planning to use uncoded M lenses and Voigts on my CL. Thanks so much!!

digitalfx Posted December 18, 2017 Share #2  Posted December 18, 2017 Don’t know why it wouldn’t... it’s a camera function, not part of the mount.   Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

auuop Posted December 21, 2017 Share #4  Posted December 21, 2017 Hi, I’m looking for a cheaper alternative to Leica’s own adapter to use an old manual M fit lens, but I’ve not been having much luck.. could you give me details for those two third party adapters that are mentioned here? chriscove Posted December 29, 2017 Author Share #8  Posted December 29, 2017 I just got the Fotodiox M mount to C mount adaptor and using the Leica Summicron C 40/2  it does NOT do focus magnification with the right dial. It does magnify with an using the up button of the multi-function dial. I too have tried everything and yes the camera is in auto magnification,  The Forodiox adaptor is very poorly made and it is very hard to get the lens on and off and almost impossible to attach the adaptor to the camera. It is going back.  Chris
jaapv Posted December 29, 2017 Share #9 Â Posted December 29, 2017 I am usually happy to use third-party adapters, including Novoflex if IÂ want quality and cheap ones if I don't care, but in this case I think an active one by Leica themselves is worth the extra outlay. lct Posted December 29, 2017 Share #10 Â Posted December 29, 2017 The "Leica M - adapter L" # 18771 allows for focus magnification on any uncoded M lenses, AFAIK, even if Main Menu > Lens Profiles is set to "Unknown Lens". No need to scroll down in the menu list of M lenses then and this works with my ZM and CV coded or uncoded lenses as well. I have no experience with Novoflex or Fotodiox adapters but i would be surprised if they allow the same given that sticking a scotch tape on the contacts of the Leica adapter disables totally focus magnification. A good question to ask Novoflex and Fotodiox users wishing to contribute in the FAQ thread eventually.

I agree and one is on order and the Fotodiox shipped back.
