It`s the new version. I only use it together with the EVF on my M10-P or even better on my SL, because you can only see what you get by looking through such electronic viewfinders. It`s because the Thambar is an extremly versatile lens, which changes the way it draws with every single aperture from dreamy to absolutely sharp. You can only guess with a rangefinder. What helps a lot is experience. This is the only way to get great results even with a rangefinder and on film. I have already posted several images in this thread, maybe it`s worth to look it through.

But I will also keep on posting in this thread ....

As written above, I tested it on my M-D, so no EVF or liveview. I think its a lot about practice and experience, then it works also without the EVF. What I liked a lot is, you get almost two lenses in one. I used it without the filter, which made it easy to chance the aperture. And your photos are definitely well made!

Just for the fun: image completely out of focus, but look at the millions of light reflections on this summers day. It`s absolutely unique, what this lens produces here. Don`t know of any other lens with this ability.  I love this image!

M9 with Thambar-M

(this lens is a real challenge, but with the M9 it is a bit easier than with the MP)

No light sources or reflectors were used for this image. The outdoor conditions on a sunny day were a real challenge, but the Thambar was still able to produce quite satisfying results, especially concerning skin tones. This pic was taken with the M10.

One of the best exposures with this lens I have seen. The Impressionist wibe this lens can produce is amazing when used for appropriate content.

That one has a bit of a Saul Leiter vibe about it. Not just the window reflections but the colour too.

Thanks, Ian. It's hard to unring that Saul Leiter bell. Since you are a photography bibliophile, I warrant you would find Francois Halard's book Saul Leiter worthwhile if you don't know it already.
