My new CL arrived today. Beautiful little beast let down by absurd strap. The rings are so small it's extremely difficult to fit and, when you do, it's back to front with the suede side out! Took me 10 minutes to get it right. Whoever designed it should be sent on a refresher course!

My CL arrived yesterday. I agree that fitting the strap is difficult. I finally fitted the rings to the strap and then to the body. But I had to have a couple of “goes” at it.

I liked the TL2 body lugs better than this CL arrangement.

Apart from that the CL body and the zooms seem to be a great combination.

I'm number 1 on the waiting list now at Red Dot, body only. Might be selling my SL now(and the Angelo Pelle half case) and the rest of my old M stuff (Leicatime case, strap, battery holder).

I hope the CL does what I want it to do. I will also buy the 11-23 I think for a wide option

I've found the SL to be ideal for landscape work. When tripod mounted weight considerations evaporate and the haptics are amazing, allowing quick and easy cycling between level and histogram displays, while adjusting the latter to avoid burn out by using exposure compensation. It will also be a great studio camera. On walkabout, I find it easily manageable with R or M lenses but the native ones are too big for hand holding in my opinion. Tripod mounted, however, the 24-90 is ideal for landscape work. The CL is an entirely different beast, being optimal for street and travel photography. However, it is also useful as a fair-weather, lightweight back-up body for the SL.

I am hugely impressed by the files from both cameras and the colours, in particular on the CL, are wonderful.

I agree 100% ..... on my last landscape trip I used the TL2 for scouting compositions and for hand held photos whilst waiting for the SL to complete long exposures+NR .... plus it was small enough to carry constantly whilst the big gear was bagged up and being carried from location to location.

As I have used the Visoflex 100% of the time on the T's, the CL really is a much better proposition. Shame Leica sticks to the 30 sec exposure limit on everything except the SL though ......

I even have trouble lugging a tripod around sturdy enough to hold the SL and a lens. I have a smallish wooden tripod that has a Novoflex arca swiss mount but it gets heavy when carrying it up mountains.

I'm hoping the Q will offer wide and the CL will offer a narrower option, 30 sec exposure is long enough for anything I would be doing. Sadly my back issue is bad enough to really limit my new found fun but I smile and crack on...

Regarding a strap though.... I have a Harry Benz on the SL but it wont fit the CL, maybe I'll use the one from my M8

The supplied strap is made from rather stiff and hard leather with quite sharp edges on it, which dig into my skin when I have it wrapped round my wrist rather than round my neck. I have been treating for the last few days with leather softener with no noticeable improvement. I will relegate the strap to one of my Barnack cameras, where the original is worn to the point of being unsafe. I have ordered an Artist and Artisan rope strap. I balked a bit at the cost of a silk one, although I am sure they are lovely and have gone for the polyester. Penny wise - pound foolish? We will see when it arrives. My friend Jack the Hat has them both in stock. If I don't like it, I can always exchange it for the more expensive braided silk version.

I have the A&A black silk wrist strap for my CL, and although it is nice, it is not silky smooth. I suspect you can get 'silky smooth' better with artificial fibre!

Have you guys had a look at deadcameras? They are a small company based in Portugal who make beautiful neck and wrist straps. They also do that wonderful Leica thing of putting a little Red Dot on their Black straps!

I have an Airlift strap already and a mini-wrist on order.

Not sure what teutonic cow ;) it comes from but the CL's strap is the first Leica strap i will keep since that of my Digilux 1 in 2002. Simple, sturdy, unobtrusive, it becomes comfortable enough after some kneading and looks less cheap than the usual nylon strap # 14312. Only con the CL's strap is not lenghy adjustable which is all too common nowadays but its length happens to fit me well so what else could i ask for? Aside from Hermes or Vuitton leather ;) i don't know.
