jpreisch Posted November 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just pre-ordered a CL with the 18-56. Now I'm second guessing myself and thinking I should spend an extra $400 and get a Q. I have owned an M8 with a 28 summicron, an X vario, and Currently a Type 109. What are your thoughts? Advertisement Posted November 25, 2017 Posted November 25, 2017 Hi jpreisch, Take a look here Q vs Cl. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jankap Posted November 25, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 25, 2017 It depends on what you want to do. Seeing you work with a 109 now, you don't win very much with each of the alternatives. What about the size of the CL with zoom in comparison with the 109er? Jan
i-Leica Posted November 25, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 25, 2017 keep your 109 and get the Q
jmschuh Posted November 25, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2017 Q!
stuny Posted November 25, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 25, 2017 The Q has the advantage of a larger sensor. The CL with the Vaio lens has the advantage of versatility similar to your 109. So it comes down to your priorities and anticipated use.
jaapv Posted November 26, 2017 Share #6 Posted November 26, 2017 Exactly the same discussion can be found in the CL forum. https://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/279054-would-you-trade-a-q-for-the-cl-cl-vs-q-merged/
TK! Posted November 26, 2017 Share #7 Posted November 26, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Had the cl in my hands yesterday. Convincing, with the 18mm very small. Reminds me of my x1,2. But the Q is far beyond as long as you are comfortable with the 24mm -tk
EfBach Posted December 6, 2017 Share #8 Posted December 6, 2017 One advantage going from the 109 to the CL, you can finally clean the dust off your sensor at home.
djinn415 Posted December 6, 2017 Share #9 Posted December 6, 2017 Yep, pre-ordered the CL, then cancelled, and went with the Q. Yes its fixed, but you got 28, 35, 50mm options with the Q while still outputting great IQ! No more shelling thousands more for extra lenses, you get a lighter load every time you travel, and overall better IQ.
microview Posted December 9, 2017 Share #10 Posted December 9, 2017 35mm crop pics compared more than favourably with M10 + Zeiss 35 1.4 ZM even though file size obviously smaller.

Belle123 Posted December 10, 2017 Share #13 Posted December 10, 2017 If I had to choose, Q every time. Never giving up mine unless they come out with a 35mm version or 50mm.
Fran D Posted January 13, 2018 Share #14 Posted January 13, 2018 Late in the game to respond to this. For me, Q all the way. I've had it since it first came out and it is my go to camera for street shooting and much much more.
