vedran Posted October 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Did anyone have problems with loose thumb support? I lost mine the other day when I was changing battery on the street and turned camera upside down. It fell down (ground surface was soft so I didn't hear the drop ). It happened in Stockholm and the only explanation I could think of, is that because temperature dropped close to zero thumb up shrank little bit and became loose. I felt this loosens couple days before but didn't think much of it.

wpm Posted November 1, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 1, 2017 I've never had an issue with either a thumbs up or the thumb grip for the M10. My only complaint with the M10 grip, which I returned is that the edge that comes out of the hot shoe is sharp. Shooting left eyed, one will put a hole in one's forehead. Got too painful. Cheesy for $ 240.
albertknappmd Posted November 1, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 1, 2017 No issue. Mine is in very tightly... Albert
MT0227 Posted November 1, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 1, 2017 I use Leica's version thumb grip, no slippage yet. Works as expected.
farnz Posted November 2, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 2, 2017 No problem with mine staying in place either. It's a nuisance having to use a thumbnail to prise it out when I (rarely) want to use the EVF but that comes with the territory. Pete.

Why would I use such a useless thing at all??? Edited November 6, 2017 by BLECHdosenM3
vedran Posted November 7, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted November 7, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks everyone , it seems this was one of those unfortunate things .. eventually I end up spending another £190 for new thumb support. Although I would think that company like Leica could have made better design of the embedded support which is on the body itself
Cliff S Posted November 8, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 8, 2017 I have both the Leica one and the Thumbs up. the Leica was always a bit wiggly and threatened to fall off. t\The Thumbs Up is more solid and won't budge.
roverover Posted June 25, 2018 Share #9 Posted June 25, 2018 Curious, I went to visit the Match Technical Website, (makers of the Thumbs Up), today and it seems to Not be functioning. I haven't been on their site for many months as I recall. Does any one know if Match Technical is still in business or why the website is gone? M11 for me Posted June 25, 2018 Share #10 Posted June 25, 2018 Did anyone have problems with loose thumb support? I think that we had another thread were this (screw driver) was the solution.

I haven't been on their site for many months as I recall. Does any one know if Match Technical is still in business or why the website is gone? I get a page with a fill-in picture and a small box that says "We're making a few design updates to this sign-in experience in mid-June. Learn more Preview the new design now" Presumably the site will be back up when they're tired of playing with it. Pete.

I've had several of them on Leica digital cameras and in my opinion they're superb. Pete.

Beats the others simply because the hot-shoe stays available, and for that price.... no-brainer

Thanks - and I saw that message but it seemed to be something pertaining to a Microsoft Log in page, NOT the Match Technical site, at least on my browser that is what it looked like. roverover Posted July 18, 2018 Share #16 Posted July 18, 2018 Just an FYI for anyone interested.I checked the Match Technical website again today and the message has finally changed after several weeks of there being just a dead link. The new info says they are rebuilding the website and it will return, so it's good news for users of their products, they are still in business.
jaapv Posted July 18, 2018 Share #17 Posted July 18, 2018 This is the one to get (frees up the hot shoe) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Thumbie-grip-for-Leica-M10-and-M240/292611044319?hash=item4420fa33df:g:7~4AAOxy3yNTfGz0 Yes, my favourite too. After breaking a hot shoe (not by a Thumbie!) I am not convinced about the strength of the construction.
Jon Pop Posted July 18, 2018 Share #18 Posted July 18, 2018 I've had no issues with my Leica M10 thumb grip; it slides in quite snug. I bought mine used because I think the full retail on those things is ridiculous. That being said, I'll probably get the Thumbie; I've had one on my M9 for years and it's never come off, has brassed nicely, a really great piece of kit. JAC Posted July 19, 2018 Share #19 Posted July 19, 2018 I use the Leica thumbgrip and it fits very firmly. Love it.
