Neil,

That same kit is $19,495 from B&H. You can see it on their website. I comes in the Pelican case with the 3 lens, special straps, 2 batteries etc. FWIW

Bill I saw that but by the time you add shipping and GST............Plus I'm trying to trade in some Nikon gear. It will all work out the same. The trade in bit is the bit I need to help finance the new gear

Thanks Gordon.

Regards,

Mark

The whole reason I bought the X1D is the long exposure and LENR issue of the Leica. And that it's mirrorless. Like you I'm a huge fan of long exposures. I was perfectly happy with my S other than that. Now it's a big ask to go back. I can stress how good the long exposure implementation is on the X1D.

In fairness I should mention the S007 has live view, so it's possible to focus anywhere etc. But it's on a fixed rear screen so you'll need a loupe in the field.

As a bonus I got the Canon adaptor so my TS lenses work really well on the X1D with some shift as well. The 17TSE gives me the equivalent of a 13.5mm with 7mm of shift. It's ridiculous.

Quite a surge on this thread recently...  ;)

Albeit interesting and undoubtedly being an outstanding system (the X1D, I mean), I still belong to those waiting to pair the outstanding S-optics with the S008, or whatever it will be named. At that time, X1D and GFX and others, possibly, will be out with new versions of the respective systems. Plus new lenses, as well. This is how it is. And Leica is usually not in front of that race. This is fine with me - I can wait - but I would expect an announcement sometime in 2018.

Well I ordered the X1D 4116 edition. The boss (wife) (front office) gave me permission as long as I wrap it and put it under the tree till the 25th. Hope it gets here by Friday. I also ordered a couple of 64 gig cards. I will order another battery in a couple of weeks. Not sure what other lens I will get. I am more of a wide angle sort of user so probably the 30. This seems to be the X1D sub forum in the Leica Forum.

Honestly. I would too. The S system is ludicrously expensive but I have most of the lenses i need and a few HC lenses with the Leica adaptor and they're great as well. However, and it's a big however, it'll need to sort out all my complaints. No mandatory LENR. At least 30 min exposure times. Mirrorless. Without those I'll plod along with my hasselblad.

Basically I want a large sensor SL with no mandatory LENR. If so, Leica get a customer. If not, they don't.
