I haven't used my M8 for a while but having produced the 2 photos above, I'm now convinced that B&W from the M8 is much better than from my M-P 240. Both of the above were at 640 ISO.

 

The tonal range seems better and there is almost a hint of Monochrom 1 in the images. Or am I deluding myself?

Good move! The 21 Elmarit seems to work very well on the M8. It's my favourite combination.

Britain was hit with an incredible snow storm over the last week. Dubbed 'the beast from the east', it brought swathes of the country to a standstill. If you live in the UK, doubtless you experienced it to some degree. I've never seen snow like that in Glasgow, and I've lived here almost all my life. It was great for photos though.

 

I shot these three pictures on my trusty M Monochrom mk1, all with the 50mm Summilux ASPH black chrome lens.

 

I did my best to keep the camera dry, since it's not waterproof, but it pretty much got soaked. Still seems to be holding up though. The digital M's do seem to be pretty robust. And it's nice to see that lots of people still have M8s ticking along.
