This thread is suffering from overposting by a few members; I have hidden some posts. It is a an unwritten convention that we leave space for other participants. Thank you, Erl, coming from the Master himself I'm humbled.

*For those who are not familiar with Erl's skills, he is able at will to instantaneously 'shoot from the hip' with a f/1 Noctilux wide open at arms length and nail focus.  I was astonished when I first saw him do it in low light in a restaurant in Venice and capture peoples' fleeting expressions from across the table or beside him without them knowing he'd taken their picture despite them being seasoned photographers.  I know because I was one of them and he caught me many times even though I was aware of what he's able to do - too late!.  I have never seen anyone display such skill elsewhere (and it's not Erl's only skill by the way.)

Well Pete, I think it was your turn. I have embarrassed you often enough with my persistent camera. We need to have a beer over all this reminiscing, but I have no idea how it can ever happen. I can't remember when I last picked up a camera with intent. Currently I am filling my covid lockdown by scanning 15,000+ slides from my past. Frighteningly, I used to be half good in my distant past. Is this my life I see passing before me? Whoops! Is that a sign? 😲

I don't have many recent photographs taken on the street lately, as I haven't been out and about too much since late March (surprise, surprise), but I did take my camera with me when I walked down to the local shops a week or so ago:
