Geoff- I wouldn't judge them all on that one you got. That seems to be a highly unusual flaw. The example I got was well made and works perfect- and still works perfect a few years later. I also paid considerably less that 350 pounds (I think I paid around 400 AUD from memory?)

Hi

Getting a refund on the lens and must admit despite what I originally said may order another, have you any recommendations on dealers to buy from.

Geoff

Have a look online, there is one dealer zeniKo_online_uk in the Portsmouth area which seems to be reliable.

Is the focus spot on between those range?

I calibrated mine for the wide apertures (I put it in between the 1.1 and 1.4 markings). From then on, I suspect focus shift is responsible for the mushiness.

+1

This sort of thing can happen to more expensive lenses too.
I once ordered a VM35 1.2 II only open the box to a copy with aperture blades all loose and out of place. Returned and bought another one, all fine.

It’s entertaining viewing threads like this, but I think I’d rather apply those funds towards other items. $250 here and $350 there and before you know it I’ve got enough for something a little more “what I really wanted in the first place”.
