pikovsg Posted May 30, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 30, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Trying to match the silver lenses with silver filters and Leica-Q-like 46mm silver caps. Are there any? Also any silver ND and Polarizers out there?
Advertisement Posted May 30, 2017 Posted May 30, 2017 Hi pikovsg, Take a look here Silver snap on caps, silver filters. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted May 30, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 30, 2017 If you use a silver filter make sure the inside of the ring is painted matte black as they often are not. Otherwise, you'll have reflections and flare all over the place.
Pjay Posted May 31, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 31, 2017 Leica supplied silver UV filter for 50mm APO has no black paint internally - you'd think that the factory would take this into account!

Bill W Posted June 14, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 14, 2017 I cannot recall ever seeing a silver filter that has the inner surface painted mat black. The one I have for my 35 cron is a Leica branded version and it is all silver.
UliWer Posted June 14, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 14, 2017 When Leica lenses usually were "silver" the screw-in filters were "silver" as well. i have several older and newer ones - none has a matted inside. Neither have some old silver from B+W. I cannot rule out that a silver rim of a filter causes reflections which show on a photo - though I have never seen this. Perhaps filters with a smaller rim are to preferred. Leica offers two different silver filters e.g. 13132 and a "UV II"13031 for 39mm which is even "cheaper" - at the price of more than 200% for a filter of another brand. Perhaps one of them is slimmer as well, but the description doesn't say so.
wlaidlaw Posted June 22, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I wanted to get a chrome/silver cap for the 50 APO Summicron (the chrome version of 14398). Apparently this will fit the type 5 50 Summicron in place of the cheap and undersize looking snap in plastic cap. The plastic cap looks particularly out of place on my 1999 Anniversary chrome LTM version of this lens, when it is mounted on a chrome Barnack camera, IIIg etc. Apparently this cap is no longer available. I suppose I will have to buy a black cap and either spray it chrome with my air-brush and Vallejo modellers chrome paint or get my friendly local chrome plating shop to satin chrome it.
