I see Enbee has an M-P, and presumably a nice collection of M lenses - the SL adds AF, and the ability to take M lenses.  I've had mine for a while, and I couldn't be happier.

I tend not to sit and complain about a camera not being what I want it to be.  I find it more productive to work out what the camera is; provided it doesn't have fundamental, fatal flaws I'll take the time to work it out.  I haven't struck any flaws so far.  One word of warning, however, you do need to take the time to set it up and get it working the way you want it - it's very different from an M camera.

If someone asked me what I'd want improved or changed, the list would be short, and firmware based.

Thank You so much! I do have a good collection of lenses with my camera. This thread convinced me in many ways that it will surely help to have one! I am looking forward to having one. In process of procuring one now!

The SL is a great camera.

My EVF is a little dark for my taste but hopefully the option to brighten it will be fixed with firmware.

The build quality is 2nd to none. This is a great camera to hold. If that feeling gets you in the mood to take better shots, then it might be worth the price.

I have an Xpro2 Fuji which is a very capable camera, but is just no where near as refined as the SL.

You can adapt so many lenses to most bodies now and some are using the Novoflex Eos-SL adapter to get autofocus on the SL with Canon lenses. (Some offer better auto focus than others)

My main issue with Leica cameras is the lack of 3rd party HSS and TTL off camera flash options.

It seems there are so many options for every other brand for both TTL and HSS from lots of flash manufacturers both cheap (chinese brands) to the established ones.

I saw an interesting product for Fuji users that translates Fuji flash talk to Nikon so you can use Nikon flashes.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1243329-REG/roboshoot_rbsmx20rx20_mx_20_rx_20_flash.html

I contacted their support to ask if they could look at one for Leica. They told me it took 18 months to reverse engineer this product and bring it to market. No one is going to do that for a potential few product sales to Leica owners.

For manual flash off camera up to the max sync speed on 1/250, there are lots of options. I have used a few from Godox and Younguo successfully without issue. (Just no TTL or HSS)

Hayden, have you seen this yet? A new option, it seems.

Well SL owners can enjoy the irony - the latest pro-targeting Sony model just announced..

24MP

Dual SD slots

2x capacity battery

$4500

I'll stick with the SL

I have exactly zero interest in anything new in Sony equipment. Or any other equipment, for that matter, with the limited exception of the Hasselblad X1D and 22mm lens. :D

I'll be curious to see how well the IBIS works.  So far, this has been a strength of the M43 cameras, with a chip 1/4 the size (and mass).  Also, Sony's using the full frame for their 4K video (they call it 6K) but only output a 3840x2160 averaged-down signal.  Their 4K doesn't look any more impressive on my 23" screen than the 4K that is obtained from the Super 35 area that is standard for cine equipment, and used in APS/C cameras. But that may be the limitation of my screen.  Video is an area where I assume Sony knows what they are doing.

Either the high ISO is insane and/or AF speed is terryfing good I'm failing to see why a A7II users will pay a 3000$ premium to upgrade. Heck, if this is the "normal" camera, how much they are going to charge for the A9R ? 6 grand ?

Please remain that way, for the sake of your mental health. I bought, used and lived with a Sony A7RII for a year. Happiest moment : when I sold it. Apart from the fact that it seems ( it won't ) that is a complete breakdown imminent, the menu's. I cannot stress this enough. I sold the camera, because I couldn't get into the menu logic. it is endless pages without ANY logic organisation whatsoever. stuff like setting the camera clock is two clicks. formatting the sd card ? 9 clicks and two pages. it seems that Sony employed a 4 year old to design the menu system. is apalling.

IBIS works well ; I had the A7RII and it works nicely and it does show - if you turn it off, you can see the difference straight away. helps a lot.

The Sony pricing is interesting, they've clearly been searching out the premium price level, incrementally moving higher each year..

2013 A7r   $2300

2014 A7s  $2500

2015 A7rII $3200

2016 (I can't believe they released 0 new A7 models in 2016)

2017 A9   $4500

I find it interesting that the whole market is going premium, and the average premium camera is getting pricier and pricier.  Leica is less and less of an outlier lately.

If Leica could diversify the SL lens lineup they might have more of a hit on their hands.  Used the camera is now similar priced to an A9.

Right now the SL lens lineup & roadmap is tilted towards big zooms & big/fast primes.

Personally I'd love a 50/2 or 35/2.8 if it got me a ~400g lens.

Maybe a wide lens with IS like Canon has done.. good for run&gun video since they have been promoting the 4K video quality.

Etc

You are certainly not the only one...  It would also be nice to know what the wide angle prime roadmap looks like...
