Why fifty?

My first camera to get pictures was FED-2 with 50mm lens on it. And it was the only camera I used for years. It was not limiting at all.

It is great portrait lens on classic rangefinders. Low ISO film, f5.6, close focus distance on person with remote background. You'll get LF like portrait with less hassle and same quality if lens is Leica.

If you have to take pictures from some distance, fifty is simply the best. It is the only lens, which will limit the number of objects in the frame, yet, not too tele.

Best made for fifty lens camera, M3, with fifty lens:

I've never been a big fan of the zombies, but sometimes they pay the bills.  These where all shot on my M8 with the trusty yummy Summy

"I take a lot of shots inside bars.  huh, I wonder why... :)"

Perhaps we should now refer to the faster lenses as "Drinking Glass" as they perform well in dark smokey environments...

Can I invite you to share some shots that show a normal lens producing some interesting shots and why?

If my humble contribution is interesting then I'd say it would be because of a 'story' embedded in the picture.

For sure not the strongest picture I have ever taken but that's pretty much all I got from Sat.'s visit to the "Earth Day Texas" at Fair Park.

M9, Summicron-M 50mm f/2.0, ISO200 1/180 s, f/5.6 or f/8.0 or thereabouts.
