Wow that is a cool looking car. I wonder what the model name is, I haven't seen one like that before.

Hi Stephen,

All I know about this is that it's an 1927 Austin 7 with a 750cc engine.

Austin 7s were very popular small British cars produced from 1923 to 1939.

If you look at images online you'll see quite a variation in body styles.

Indeed there are quite a few variations, a friend has a lovely Ruby saloon. The one you pictured looks very well up kept and smart.

Apparently it may well be what was called a 'Doctor’s Coupe'. Usually based on a small, cheap and reliable chassis, and providing covered accommodation for the doctor and a sizeable boot with a lift up waterproof lid, for the doctor’s bag and other items.

Later, in the 1920’s when sales of this type of body were declining, Citroen had the good idea of using up stocks by putting a rudimentary seat in the ducktail and selling it as a three seater, marketed as the trèfle, or clover leaf. This Austin might be such a conversion.

Thanks Stephen, I wish I'd taken more notice of the car while I was there, particularly the rear end.

Apparently 2022 is the Centenary of the Austin 7 and over 1000 are expected to turn up at a rally in Gloucestershire in July (sold out unfortunately). It's likely to be quite an event.

That will be a tremendous event!

with a 50mm Sonnar type Jupiter-3 on the M10-R.

I'm happily surprised every time how the old lenses show more details or more colours than on my M240!
