How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2480 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

This musician was playing a tin whistle at Columbia State Historic Park. Turns out he's also a (film) photographer and didn't mind posing. It was late in the day, and the sun near the horizon cast a soft light. I had him turn a bit so I could get side-lighting that would bring out the texture of his face. 1/2500s, f/1.7, ISO 100. Processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Q came in this morning's mail, it really is a piece of art unto itself.  Many years since I've had a decent camera, now I'm going to make a better attempt to develop whatever minor skill I may have, but regardless just to develop to where I can enjoy seeing the potential of an image as it is in my mind ultimately being approached on screen.

A few years ago I decided to buy myself a really nice bike.  I never realized how much fun bike riding could really be until I rode that bike; it was an entirely different experience.  I have a feeling this is going to be just like that.

When I have something that doesn't seem absolutely embarrassing I'll risk posting here in order to listen to what experienced photographers can offer by way of coaching.  Then again maybe it will be absolutely embarrassing, but I guess that's how I'll learn!
