I'm going to sell the M8 plus accessories and lenses.

Could I list the gear here ? I guess I'd brake forum rules, but I recall someone already did it.

If I can't list here, I heard that Guy run a buy&sell forum, could anyone point me there ?

Thanks :)

Marco

There is meant to be a buy&sell forum here, but I am not sure if it is up-und-running yet. Since the forum is no longer affiliated with Leica, why don't you just post it, and if the buy&sell is running, I am sure the moderators will just move the thread.

I am surprised to hear this, Marco. Do you just prefer your DMR or what is the reason?

Hmm. I guess Marco isn't going to be sitting on his equipment until the forum is running, unless that is tomorrow or sometime soon (and known). Will you not tolerate the thread? In that case I guess he will go elsewhere.

You always can list it on FM; Tom Conte posted a WTB for an M8 earlier but he already found one in the meantime. I am surprised as well that you want to sell yours, Marco, now after the dust has settled.....

I'd prefer to post here or at Guy's site rather than Fredmiranda's, because there are much more Leica M users here and lots of great guys I appreciate and respect (not that there aren't on FM though.. :) ).

Anyone please could point me to Guy's site ?

Thanks,

Marco

Andreas said he'd be turning sort of a blind eye to for sale posts in the customer forum FWIW!.

I won't check for sales ads to close but please discuss availablity, price and other details via PM."

Btw, I love the images from the M8 and Leitz glass and even Voigtlander's is great!

It's only that I realized that probably rangefinder isn't for me, as I constantly reach for my DSLR rather than the M8, despite the better output from the Leica.

When I use the M8 I can hardly concentrate on the subject and composition, because I find focussing slow, even compared to manual focussing on, say, the Nikon D200, which is not the best for manual focussing...

I also much prefer to see through the lens, instead of through a fixed finder with not so precise framelines.

In the end I can't justify my over 10,000 EUR investment for the times I actually use it.

Maybe I could have simply kept the R-D1 with a couple of nice Voigtlander... :(

Marco, as a long time Canon 1ds Mark II user I think of selling my M8 daily! Still, I force myself to stick it in a bag and bring it along to some nasty places where I work in Brazil. And in the evening when I download my card from the M8 and look at the images shot at f/2 or 1.4--nothing, I mean nothing comes close to it. Bless my M8 for being small, black, and crappy looking with all the black tape I've wrapped around it. Its allowed me to do my job without looking like a pro and at the end of the day it delivers the goods when it comes to the extreme high quality my agency demands.

Zoran, I well understand and you do have a point in keeping the M8 for your type of work.

But even if I photograph since I was fourteen, almost twenty-five years ago, I am still an amateur and I can't justify to keep all this expensive gear just in case sometime I'd bring it to some exotic place where I can't use my SLR.

Just like I can't justify to get a 600/4 AF-S for that photo-safari which I never did...

Still, I know I'll miss it :o

Marco,

I'm sorry you're selling up all you M gear as well. It must be only two months ago that you sold your R9, DMR and R glass. Did you sell your 1.4x APO converter? How are you getting on with your D200 and N glass?

Best wishes,

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

indeed I sold my DMR a couple of months ago, Apo 1.4x included.

The 280/4 Apo (returned calibrated from Solms - stunning lens) is still pending, due to an ebay winner who has still to pay after 4 weeks...

I initially thought to keep the M8, because it's so much different from anything else, but I almost never use it.

Lately I became less maniac regarding photographic gear, the D200 plus some fine Nikkor lenses satisfy me enough.

The only lens I really miss in the Nikon lineup is a fast 28mm, now that the 28/1.4 is discontinued.

The M8 plus Leica glass has better output, aperture and focal lenght being equal, but the Nikon is more flexible and in the end I can get great results (or just the same garbage images :D) without having to keep both systems.
