jonoslack Posted June 26, 2007 Share #223 Posted June 26, 2007 What do you mean? If you tighten the screw there is no way that it *can* drop out. That only happens if it is not tightened... Do you tighten it the right direction? HI Carsten Yes - certainly do - it simply gets loose over an hour or so. I have to say - I was responding to Guy's remarks - I simply tighten it up again every so often; not the end of the world, but it would be nice if it were tight - incidentally you can still wiggle it about, even when it's tight as tight. wparsonsgisnet Posted June 26, 2007 Share #231 Posted June 26, 2007 Guy, I am particularly drawn to the last set of images. In fact, starting with the woman walking thru the cemetary (Nice imagery!!!! You gonna start writing novels now?) they are really wonderful. Sorry you had to give up all those lenses (were there really any you didn't have???) and also the car. It's a good thing that the best part of a trip is ahead (the plane ride of course -- talk about a downer). Glad you had such an event-filled trip. How's your German, now? Regards,

smsmd Posted June 26, 2007 Share #235 Posted June 26, 2007 Hi Guy, Just to second many others. I have very much enjoyed this thread, both from learning about the Academy and for the photos. It will rank with the Yosemite thread for me as one I will revisit. All of your efforts are much appreciated, Thanks, steve
scott kirkpatrick Posted June 26, 2007 Share #236 Posted June 26, 2007 Have a nice ride home, Guy. As you wait in the Frankfurt airport, there is very good, but a bit expensive T-mobile wireless connectivity available. And try the Star Alliance Gold lounge, not the ordinary business class lounge -- the food is much better in Gold. I liked the less touristy German Gelato cafe, graveyard and waterfall shots. Where were you? Talk to you by email or PM later. scott
jonoslack Posted June 26, 2007 Share #237 Posted June 26, 2007 Thank you Guy Great thread - I guess it hasn't been as enjoyable reading it as being there, but it's been pretty good! Look forward to news when you get back. have a great journey
Enoteca Posted June 27, 2007 Share #238 Posted June 27, 2007 A true story. If you know something about history, you would be more carefully with your judgement concerning the work of your colleagues. Please read this anecdote about a masterpiece: Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed his Piano Concerto No. 1 in 1874/75 and dedicated the work to the piano virtuoso Nikolai Rubinstein, director of the Moscow Conservatory, whom he also intended to be its first performer. However, when Tchaikovsky proudly showed the work to Rubinstein and two other musical friends, he was met with bitter disappointment. Rubinstein dismissed the piano concerto as "banal, clumsy and incompetently written" as well as "poorly composed and unplayable." Today it’s considered as a masterpiece and is the most famous of the three piano concertos written by Tchaikovsky. Frank Reusen Sorry Frank, bad example. The 1. piano concerto stays until today "banal, clumsy and incompetently written". It doesn't matter, if it is counted to Tschaikovki's "masterpieces". as we said in 1968: "Eat more shit, some millions of flys can't be wrong". Bill W Posted June 27, 2007 Share #239 Posted June 27, 2007 It took a while but I really enjoyed the entire thread. Hopefully you can post some more shots. Hopefully you will fill everyone in on what you can discuss. Did you tell your wife about the great discount you got on the car and when it will arrive. But honey, its a used car you know. Here is one for the finder idea list -- Leica should consider adding a PC socket to the FF if they are going to modify it. Maybe someone will do this as an aftermarket service?
