Advertisement Posted March 18, 2017 Posted March 18, 2017 Hi NDOC, Take a look here Availability?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Sierratrekker Posted March 18, 2017 Share #602 Posted March 18, 2017 I went to Leica San Francisco yesterday and I was surprised that they had a demo unit given it's scarcity. The person I spoke with said that they have a demo in each of their three stores....two are called Leica boutiques. Spoke with lots of people that had pre-ordered from Leica SF and had no idea when they would get theirs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
digitalfx Posted March 18, 2017 Share #603 Posted March 18, 2017 Then where is the camera I ordered day one? Totally unacceptable for me to be waiting this long if they are shipping everywhere faster than any other M. How could you not agree? It's all relative, where did you order from? Is this your first Leica M? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
enboe Posted March 19, 2017 Share #604 Posted March 19, 2017 Yes, they said that they did ship to the US in the beginning but had too much trouble with the local (crappy) shipping company named aramex. Magic - I'm glad to see this comment. I purchased a camera from London and had it sent express to Los Angeles. Aramex held it up for an extra week awaiting, "import duty payment". It took a delivery delay, plus me calling around to half a dozen numbers, to finally reach the right person who, "updated the computer to release the camera as no duty was due." Oh, and the packaging was mangled, luckily a very rare camera was multiply-packed with a hard shell inner case for extra protection. I let the original seller know of the problems and provided them with imagery of the mangled packaging. Bottom line recommendation, patience, luck, and perhaps a little magic. magosak Posted March 19, 2017 Share #605 Posted March 19, 2017 Ordered March, 9th....today :D :D Congrats, Magic. Still waiting for mine. I am curious to know how the macro adapter performs.
Magic Posted March 19, 2017 Share #606 Posted March 19, 2017 @Eric - yes, aramex is IMHO already bad when it comes to local shipping...so incompetence probably multiplies when it comes to shipping abroad. @magosak - thank you very much, I posted already a photo, taken with the macro adapter, in the "M lenses"-thread. It is different because the M system is completely new to me and I just started looking at/playing with the macro adapter today a bit. Biggest difference to my previous Nikon 105 is, that I have to get much closer to the object in combination with live view but I like it. digitalfx Posted March 19, 2017 Share #610 Posted March 19, 2017 It is quite telling on this thread that most of those defending Leica's handling of orders already have theirs.. No-one is "defending" Leica, we are just sharing realistic information. There is going to be a wait, as there has been for every prior digital M. There are not made fast, which frankly is the reason we pay a premium and get in line in the first place. If you want the camera immediately then buy a Canon...or do some research before placing an order with a dealer. I only use a dealer than is honest and shares with me basic information on my order. The only reason I received my M10 early is because I took a leap of faith and placed my order in Jan 2016...a year prior. If you want a camera early, place the order early and ask the dealer what your place in line is. If he won't tell you move on to another that will. Ive also found that if you use the directory on the Leica website and call other small dealers, you might just get lucky and snag one. Thats how I found my M8, and M9 early. It's difficult defending Leica now. I ordered on Jan 18th and have not received it yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 months? I waited 6 months for my M240 See my notes above.

I waited 6 months for my M240 See my notes above. How dumb and condescending. So, we are supposed to just place a blind order who knows how far in advance for a camera that doesn't exist? That's your advice? I did order early (sane person early), on day one. But according to you I need to go through the same sort of waiting period just like how you waited a whole 6 months for a 240. The Leica way if you will. Totally unacceptable in today's market and given the technology of today.
CJJon Posted March 19, 2017 Share #612 Posted March 19, 2017 Update today from my dealer. "Unfortunately we don't have an expected delivery date at this time for your order as it is currently backordered by the manufacturer. As soon as we receive it in stock we will promptly ship it to you. Once the order has been shipped we will notify you via e-mail. I apologize for this delay and any inconvenience it has caused you. I can tell you that you are very close to the top of our backorder list and you should be on the next shipment of these cameras." I've been at the top of the list since the first day of release. Ridiculous.

Im not sure what you expected, but these cameras aren't mass produced. How do you propose they ship these faster? There are ways to shorten the wait, if you would take my post as useful info rather than condescending you might just learn somthing.
pop Posted March 19, 2017 Share #614 Posted March 19, 2017 Totally unacceptable in today's market and given the technology of today. Given today's market and technology, there are cameras galore you can buy right off the shelf. Why insist in buying from a obsolete manufacturer who is largely in ignorance about how to deal with today's market? Besides, has your current camera fallen apart? This thread is meant to talk about availability. Some people who have liked and ordered an M10 and still have not received it are complaining about it. I think your point/question is not pertinent. Dumb because your advice was to place an order a year before the camera was even announced. Condescending when you told me to buy Canon.

There are no other full frame digital rangefinders available. My current gear status is irrelevant to the pathetic way Leica handles distribution. digitalfx Posted March 19, 2017 Share #619 Posted March 19, 2017 Dumb because your advice was to place an order a year before the camera was even announced. Condescending when you told me to buy Canon. lol. I never told you to place an order a year before the camera comes out...I simply said this is why I got one early. Its a simple problem called supply and demand. If the dealer has 200 pre-orders and they only get 4-5 per month...well you do the math. The solution is to choose your dealer wisely, or search around. If you don't want to wait, there are plenty of other options...Canon was simply an example. But you didn't answer my question...how do you propose they solve the shortage? cut corners? hire 500 temporary camera assemblers and rush them to work? seriously, do you think Leica is building them slow on purpose? The launch of any Leica M is going to be slow...this one is most defiantly going faster than the previous one.
FrozenInTime Posted March 19, 2017 Share #620 Posted March 19, 2017 The seemingly haphazard distribution, contrasted to open book production slot scheduling, does cause frustration to even the patient. However, I would like to think Leica are taking the time needed to ensure quality control - the cameras will arrive in due course.
