Only in small shops and Leica stores. It has yet to be listed as "in stock" at big online retailers such as B&H and Adorama.

Generally speaking, you'll not see the big box stores with the "in stock" label on Leica cameras until well into the product cycle, after the initial demand has largely been sated.  Using that measure as the marker for when Leica has "officially released" a camera would be bizarre.

It's the same reason it's best to avoid those big box stores early-on after a release.  There's lots of empirical evidence that they receive fewer cameras, despite having much longer lists.  Certainly as a percentage, given those long lists, they receive far few cameras than you might expect.

NDOC, I like your avatar.  With that in mind, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that this is your first rodeo?  After you've been through a few product cycles you'll see that the M10 release is no different from those that came before.   M8, M9, M240... they each followed this exact same pattern.

I hope you get your M10 soon and I hope you love it and I hope you hang around here a long time.  In a half-dozen years or so, round about when the M12 is released, there will be another thread called "Availability?"  And without doubt there will be a few folks, new to the Leica world, who just can't understand why the cameras ship so slow.  You'll be on the other end, then, shaking your head at the bizarre notions being tossed around and saying "nah, it just takes time.  It just does."

Leica is not nearly so mysterious as some imagine.

They did it for the rollout of the SL last year. They announced it would be in stock a month later, and exactly a month later both B&H and Adorama list it as in stock. If Leica can do that for the rollout of an entirely new camera system, why can't they do it for the rollout of a camera body? It seem obvious that the answer is they could if they wanted to.

Demand wasn't near as high for the SL.

Point me to the announcement?

Release date and in stock announcement are different things.

It has never been listed as in stock at either B&H or Adorama. B&H has only shipped a handful of M10s to people on their waiting list.

Nor will it be until initial demand is sated and supply catches up and overtakes it. Is it that hard to grasp the concept that Leica is a smaller company shipping a highly sought-after product worldwide? Adorama and B&H have long preorder lists, but initially get no more units than smaller dealers all over the world. Occam's Razor applies here. The simplest answer, in this case the supply/demand curve, is the correct answer.

Spot on, Dirk!  I placed an order for a silver chrome M10 last week, and the small Leica Boutique in Brisbane assures me I'll have delivery before the end of the month.

I noticed the same phenomenon when I bought the M246, that my wait time was less than those on the B&H list.  If only a couple of big players in the market could get cameras early after release date, demand around the world would likely diminish.  I heard of one local buyer who waited 18 months for an M9, but not many of us have that kind of patience!

i took a flyer and put my name on the list at Samy's for silver M10...oddly enough - for the black it showed "backordered" and the Silver it did not...so i ordered one...it is not in stock and they don't have an expected arrival date but the lady told me i was #6 on the waitlist for a silver one...this was last week...i was actually really surprised the lady i spoke with was that forthcoming about stock and the waitlist...anyway...interesting

Hardly my first "rodeo", pardner. I've owed a Monochrom since 2013, along with a 50 Lux ASPH, 35 Chron ASPH, 75 Chron APO, as well as a 50 Zeiss Planar M, a vintage Topcor-S 50 f/2 (a great lens) and a vintage Jupiter-3 50.

"The Leica SL (Type 601) body will be on sale from 16 November 2015. " November 16th was the first date it was listed as in-stock at B&H.

I have made a reservation for the Leica M10 (black) in Frankfurt am Main, 18.02.2017. No real estimation could be made.

Last weekend I visited the Leica Boutique in Wetzlar and made another reservation, as they estimated the waiting time to 2-3 weeks.

Let's see which one is first.

I canceled my order (Leica Store Frankfurt am Main) as I received a phone call from Leica Boutique Wetzlar last Saturday that my Leica M10 black is ready to take off.

From my point of view the estimated delivery date from Wetzlar was very accurate.

Have anybody received M10 from Leica Shop Vienna?

I've never seen any positive report about M10 with the shop, even though not a few people made the order in Jan.

I asked the shop about the status but they don't write anything significant we can guess the status in the shop. They are very professional...

I've been on their list since the beginning of Feb. I was initially quoted 6-8 weeks but still nothing.

Probably one of the most popular stores in Europe, especially given their 'free shipping' policy. I.e., you can bet there are hell a lot of folks who place an order there.

I got my M10 last Saturday and love it!  In regard to comments others have made about their experiences with other dealers, I would like to report on my experience with Popflash Photo in Thousand Oaks, CA.  Over the past 9 years, I have bought several cameras and lenses from them and also had them sell several for me on consignment.  I have always found there service more than one could hope for.  Once, I sent them a lens which I thought had a defect that couldn't be fixed to sell (with full disclosure).  Later they informed me that the lens  could be fixed, the estimated cost, and an offer to handle the repair.  Subsequently they sent the lens back to me in working order.

With regard to M10 availability, they proactively informed me of my progress on the waiting list every time they received a shipment or folks dropped out.  I had moved up to first on the list, and last week they informed me that my camera was on it's way from NJ,.  They asked me to confirm my payment and shipping options so they could sent it to me the same day they received it.  Since like many in this thread, I want what I want it now, I chose to immediately pick up the local camera.  I explained this to Popflash and cancelled my order.  They said "no problem" and within and hour had refunded my deposit of $6595.  I look forward to dealing when them again.
