One of the few examples of flare that actually looks appealing to me.

Kyoei W.Acall 35mm F3.5, M10 Monochrom

It was a "W-Komura 35mm F/3.5" OEM version from Sankyo Kohki.

Perhaps many of you are familiar with Komura 2X TELEMORE 95 for Leica LTM.

Another beautiful picture of (soon-to-be) Madame!

I'm afraid I haven't owned/used the E58 long enough to be able to offer a meaningful opinion (the v4, on the other hand, is an old friend of nearly 20 years). I haven't yet compared them side by side - and there are several threads on the subject anyway, here or elsewhere on the internet.

My first and subjective impressions are that the E58 IS ergonomically a better design, MIGHT produce slightly colder/less "rich" colours, MIGHT be a tad softer and MIGHT show oof areas slightly smoother. Contrary to my expectations and to everything I have read, I found the vignetting comparable, and possibly even a smidgen lower from f/2 onwards on the E58, with or without (slim) filters. I only use digital and both lenses are coded, so this is likely a factor.  I will try with the 6-bit sensor set to "off" next time. Or it could be my particular copies - considering that both were recently CLA'd and coded by Leica and DAG respectively, and should therefore be at their best. But it's all splitting hairs - their overall rendering is otherwise almost identical to my eyes.

More to come in due course. In the meantime:

👏👏👏

A couple of illustrative shots from an unusual lens that was originally designed for the Contax II. Shortly thereafter, a dedicated version was also produced for the Robot. I remember reading somewhere that there was allegedly some internal competition between the CZJ design teams in charge of this Biotar 40/2 and the contemporary Sonnar 40/2 (as found on the Tenax II) respectively. Both lenses were manufactured in small numbers, although the Robot version of the Biotar is not too hard to find.

The bokeh in the second image is as beautiful as I've ever seen from any lens.

I agree, it's pretty good in the right conditions - it even passes the "foliage torture test" (see 2nd shot below below) better than many other, more recent lenses. The colours are surprisingly vibrant too. It's the edges that are not great and, of course, shooting into the light is a no-go (unless you want veiling flare and a big decrease in contrast). But then, it's an uncoated f/2 lens manufactured nearly 90 years ago!

Again, M10P ASC + converted (from Contax) 1935 CZJ Biotar 40/2, both wide open

Started experimenting with M42 lenses. Here's a Tair 11A 135mm at its widest aperture (f2.8) on an M11, capturing the typical November foliage.
