M240; Canon-FD 50mm macro

(now who said the M240 can't match the M9? [I did at some time] . .  but maybe some profiles reduce certain lens saturation on intent)

Is that lens a Xenon/Summarit copy? Never heard of it before, looks interesting!

AFAIK, the Simlar 50/1.5 and its successor, the Topcor 50/1.5, are original optical designs made for Leotax RF cameras. They are very loosely related to the Xenon/Summarit in that they are from the same era and are based on a double gauss formula. If memory serves, they also have 7 elements, but these are arranged differently. The Simlar/Topcor design is significantly more compact than the Xenon/Summarit one. I have taken a quick iPhone shot below, which shows this (despite some distortion...) From left to right: Xenon, Summarit, Simlar and Topcor.
Also, in my experience, both the Japanese lenses have more contrast and are more "usable" (less prone to flare) than the German ones. They are remarkably  sharp for their age, and produce vivid colours. On the downside, production was very limited and they are hard to find in good condition - and therefore also more expensive.

I  bought a 65 Elmar, have been trying to figure out how to use it on my CL without a Viso head, bought a M to Nikon adapter and I am using Nikon extension tubes, seems to be working well. Did Leica make tubes to bypass a Viso II or III.

The combination seems to be working well:

Yes, I am enjoying the Elmar 65 mm as well on the SL 601 using a 14167 Leica M to R adapter and a Leica R to L adapter :

and on the Fujifilm GFX50R :

No extension tubes necessary and it allows focusing at  infinity .

I have been happy with the 65, because I just got it I have been using it more than my long macro a 105 f2.8 Micro-Nikkor. The Nikor is a little crisper, the 65 lighter, infinity is often a problem with micro Nikors but doesn't seem to be on the 65.

I had both versions of the 65 Elmar and kept the v2 black version from 1973 which I found better optically than the  1960s silver 65 Elmar v1  I had.

I'd have to agree that my v2 black is slightly better optically than the silver v1 I had.  Strangely, after I bought it through a well-known online auction house I found that the previous owner had converted the black 65/3.5 Elmar-V to a 55 mm filter thread and in doing so lost the circular front plate with all the lens's details.  The price was right so all was well.

All my 65/3.5 Elmar-V shots are unavailable to me for the moment so here's one with my 21/2.8 Kobalux and my M9P to keep things going.
