Raid Amin Posted July 14, 2018 Share #4042 Posted July 14, 2018 I liked the 2.8 Xenon more than the 2.0 and used it a lot, years ago when my Retina was alive. Good to see such gems still in use. My lens is rather unique. The tiny lens was originally part of a Retina camera,. It started out with a $155 buy of the lens with some serious hacking done to it, followed by a second Xenon to replace some parts. Brian did this work for me. It is the fruit of his labor. It is a mix of pre-war optics with post-war optics.
Ronazle Posted July 14, 2018 Share #4043 Posted July 14, 2018 (edited) Mt. Rainier, Leica IIIC, F2 Summitar with Leitz Polarizer, circa 1953 Kodachrome (ASA 10), slide is mounted between Leica glass which is cracked, I wonder if it is still under warranty? mdemeyer Posted July 14, 2018 Share #4044 Posted July 14, 2018 No, but I bet this group could have a lengthy debate about the merits of replacing it with modern, coated glass vs. removing the glass completely! ;-) Mt. Ecar Posted July 18, 2018 Share #4053 Posted July 18, 2018 Summer is good for garden testing... This shows interesting optical differences between two rather unusual Japanese lenses from the late 50's - early 60's. Both wide open on M10 (handheld) at MFD or thereabouts. First is a 1959 Tanar 50/1.9 - a Sonnar design. Notice the "bokeh balls". Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Second is a 1961 Topcor 50/1.8 - a double-Gauss design. Slightly higher resolution and "cat's eye" OOF.
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members!
