Are you liking the lens? I've been wanting to order the nickel version, but wanted to get some real world feedback on them first.

I do like the 50mm Heliar Classic f1.5 lens very much, it's an interesting lens to understand but I think you're confusing it with the 50mm f1.5 Nokton vii as there is no nickel version of the Heliar Classic.  As far as I'm aware, the Heliar Classic is only available in gloss black which matches a black paint body quite nicely as a bonus for me.

The 50mm Heliar Classic f1.5 is a very different lens to the 50mm Nokton f1.5 vii and won't be appreciated by anyone who insists 50mm lenses need to be 'sharp'.  It  is single coated and has a very soft and low contrast rendering, almost myopic rendering at maximum aperture depending on subject distance, and for this reason it's easy for many people to simply dismiss the lens as 'rubbish', as one YouTube clown did because he is incapable of seeing beyond his notion of 'sharp' and the creative possibilities the Heliar Classic offers to more cerebral photographers.

Out of focus backgrounds render with anything from soap bubble balls to doughnut shaped specular highlights, depending on the aperture, distance behind subject, background highlights, textures and structures and can be either soft and gentle or overpoweringly distracting, sometimes both!

Be sure you understand which lens you are interested in and the differences between it and the Voigtlander 50mm f1.5 Heliar Classic.

It's hard to part with that money, but when you have it in your hand, it becomes worth every penny.

Why do you think this? Is the new M6 such a "horrible" creature in your opinion and why is that?

I never said any such thing. Your words, not mine.

Read the title of the thread.

Ok, may be I did not understand your remark but what do you mean by “Frankenstein” M6 and why is it called “Frankenstein” by you and why do you think it is getting far to much attention?

A simple, offhand comment, an innocent analogy.  Read the title of the thread.  Calm down, relax.  It was never intended to hurt or offend.  The rest is up to you.

I love Frankenstein, I really do.  Hope that helps.

I’ll guess that like the creature in the novel, the M6 has been recreated form old parts and brought back to life. It seems like a good, humorous analogy to me.

Young Frankenstein would have been better but as my old dad used to say on these occasions: “What the hell are you doing in the bathroom day and night? Why don't you get out of there and give someone else a chance? “

Ah.. so it was your own finding? I thought the new M6 already had “ Frankenstein” as a nickname. The title I love my MP is clear to me . Keep loving it!

When I bought my first MP several people were saying “ why would you, it’s just like the M6” so I argued that the parts were of beter quality. Now I read that most of the parts of the M6 are of the same quality as the MP. So the argument MP has better quality parts doesn’t work anymore. It’s just a very well build body, using the knowlegde and experience in building the MP.  So the Frankenstein analogy … i don’t know.

Didn’t The good doctor want his creature to be better? Stronger than humans. I’d suggest you give this a quick read… :)

Hello Paulus,

I think that you are misunderstanding what Ouroboros wrote.

If you remember: Doctor Frankenstein was the wonderful genius who created The (As it is written in the cast of actors in the original movie.) Monster. who was clearly a misunderstood individual with a somewhat complex background that most likely contributed to his (The Monster's.) perception of the World. As well as to other people's perception of him.

So, I look at Ouroboros's comment as: Another +++ for the Wizards of Wetzlar.

Best Regards,

Michael
