There is no hint of the grain structure I would expect from FP4+ in ID11 and there is an overall softness to the image that I would not expect to see either from a film scan. Not a criticism, it's an observation, have you applied some noise reduction and glow in pp? Edited February 20, 2021 by Ouroboros

No noise reduction (I try to turn off all the auto settings from epson software but I will check again and confirm as I did not yet spend lot of time with this software and could have miss it). To my eyes, the scan is pretty 'true' to the print. All I did is scan at 2400dpi tiff, then resize and downsample using bicubic in photoshop. The scanner is an epson v39. I used the epson photo software that came with it. Thanks a lot for your interest. Aryel

As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! I'm interested in the performance of the lens on cropped sensors compared to full frame ones. This image and a few others with cropped framed cameras are helpful, but of course it is hard to know if some corrections, e.g. for vignetting, were done. In any case, is there a sense that the summaron 28 f5.6 renders differently on the cropped frame cameras, e.g. the CL or M8 cameras?
a.noctilux Posted February 21, 2021 Share #1656 Posted February 21, 2021 Hello Ellisson, if you are after performance, don't buy this character old recipe lens. Other 28mm lenses that I use are better suited for most use. I'd not use (with my experiences) regularely with cropped sensor, as the lens (good/bad) character is on the near border (fall off contrast/resolution) lets the central portion "stronger rendering". I've used on M8 the former LTM mount 5.6/2.8cm (same optical cell), with pleasure only to see what was more/or less than the other 28mm I routinely use. Welcome, dear visitor! ellisson Posted February 21, 2021 Share #1657 Posted February 21, 2021 Thanks a.noctilux. Just to clarify, do I understand you correctly that you see the same character/rendering on the M8 as on full frame camera? I am not concerned with absolute, across-the-frame performance, but I would like to know if the characteristics of the lens are preserved on the smaller sensor camera. Hard to find direct comparisons🤔.
a.noctilux Posted February 21, 2021 Share #1658 Posted February 21, 2021 (edited) Summaron 28mm on M8 ? For me, as the Summaron 28mm would give the "same rendering" on M8 as another 28mm that I have (Elmarit-M asph or Summicron-M, even MATE at 28mm setting) closed to f/5.6, I would prefer when possible use the wider open lens or Tri-Elmar. The compactness is another story though, with it's 165g/18mm not found on other lens. I can't explain why this is my 28mm favorite, if the compactness/lightness is so important or the "famous special rendering" (I hardly find this, to be honest), I don't know. Maybe because this tiny lens is so easy (like set to f/5.6 or f/8 then be there like many other lenses), that's magic ! I do like the lens on Monochrom Welcome, dear visitor! Hard to find direct comparisons🤔. I would start to look at the MTF curves of a lens. They show one aspect of cropping a picture on a sensor. After that the sensor"manipulates" the picture with its color filters. I suppose they are not standardized, so Kodak, Sony or others deliver different electric signals. Somewhat different!
