Very sharp but nice!  Sorry for a bit of random collection, but I thought of including as I tried that too...  I must mention thanks to red dot cameras in London, the guys are super friendly and patient when you try various lenses... I will be making a purchase soon!   Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Advertisement Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Hi Mahesh, Take a look here Portrait / 90mm lenses. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tom0511 Posted October 11, 2016 Share #22 Â Posted October 11, 2016 I never shot comparison like you but have owned 90 pre asph, 75/1.4, 75/2.0, 90 Macro, Zeiss 85/2.0 and 90 Elmarit, older and newer versions. I believe on a rangefinder its hard to focus 90mm at f2.0. And I believe the 90 Elmarit is a very nice mixture between supersharp modern lenses and less sharp older lenses. I also think the 90 Elmarit has a better bokeh than the 90/4.0 Macro. And I believe the size/weight of 90/2.8 handles better on a M body than the 90/2.0. So you may guess my favorite 90mm, even though I use 50 and 75 much more often.

finarphin Posted October 13, 2016 Share #24  Posted October 13, 2016 I have a Sony a7ii and three Leica 90mm lenses for it. I like the 90mm Elmar: even though it's a triplet I like the rendition; I can focus it, and it was relatively inexpensive ($56). I also have a 90mm Summicron, Version I. I haven't used it enough to form a strong opinion about it, but so far I like it.  The third is a 90mm Summicron-R preaspherical. I don't like it. It was expensive, or I thought it was, but I don't like the rendition. It's not double-gaussian, it's a "modified triplet" and when I look at the lens diagrams it recalls a Sonnar with that heavy front element group. I just don't like the look of the resulting photos: they're sharp and clear, and wrong. On top of that I can't focus it on a film camera. And I have trouble focusing it on the Sony, especially in flat lighting, where it seems the focus assist on the camera isn't sensitive enough. I have the suspicion it has focus shift as well. I might sell it sooner or later. lct Posted October 15, 2016 Share #25  Posted October 15, 2016 As far as 90/2 pre-apo's are concerned, i have no focussing problems with either R 90/2v1 or M 90/2v3 i must say. I like much their slight softness at f/2 for portraits and i don't find them wrong at all but it is a matter of tastes obviously. Only flaw is CA with those lenses IMHO. My favorite 90/2 pre-apo remains the M v2 though but it is a bulky and heavy lens by Leica M standards. Better use a solid adapter with it. I broke a CV close focus adapter with this lens so i use a Novoflex adapter now for both the M 90/2`v2 and my recently acquired M 75/1.4. FWIW. Ecaton Posted October 23, 2016 Share #29 Â Posted October 23, 2016 On a Sony 7..whatever I'd use a Batis 85mm.
Mahesh Posted October 25, 2016 Author Share #30 Â Posted October 25, 2016 On a Sony 7..whatever I'd use a Batis 85mm. Don't want to invest in a lens that can't be used on a different mount. I did like Batis when I tried, wasn't fan of oof highlights though, very distracting and shocking for a modern lens from Zeiss to have that
Mr.Q Posted October 25, 2016 Share #31 Â Posted October 25, 2016 On a Sony 7..whatever I'd use a Batis 85mm. I agree. The 85GM is another fantastic option. It was fun while it lasted but I'm done with adapting lenses. I'm now back to using M lenses on M bodies and Fujinon lenses on Fuji bodies.
