John, regrettably I'll have to pull out of the Challenge. Hopefully there'll be another one in the future. Best wishes for a great event, I know Melbourne won't disappoint in photographic or epicurean delights.

What a shame, Digby, I was looking forward to meeting you and chatting about Digilux 2's.

Pete.

Erl best wishes for a speedy recovery with your hand. I recall visiting Amsterdam and meeting some wonderful Leica shooters.....and had a wrist problem making it really painful to advance the film in my M7.

The new eatery venue looks great

Mark, you will be missed, although your absence will improve my chances of 'winning'!

I wish your son the very best for one of life's great events. Enjoy the occasion with him.

P.S. I just got back from the hand surgeon. My progress is very good.

The therapist is very nice too. ;)

Hope you heal quickly Erl.

My son's 21st has been moved to weekend of the Challenge so it looks like I'll have to gracefully bow out of attending. Would like to have been there but family first!

Oh bugger!

I will be in Melbourne for Easter so a week earlier sounds good.

Hi kangaroo2012,

You are most welcome to joint the Challenge events. The actual competition is on April 8, but there are a number of activities I am organizing for early arrivees. Starting April 6, (Wednesday) I will have some shooting locations to guide you round or just suggest locations to you, as you wish. Friday will be a visit to Camera Clinic for a tour of the workshop and some interesting things they design and do, as well as their maintenance of Leicas and other brands.

Check my posts, # 188 and # 199 and # 202 for more details. PM me if you need help accessing more info.

Hi erl,

I have consulted the Social Secretary and determined that she (and Me) will be attending the Dinner.

We are Elizabeth and Philip and stay at King Street, Flinders on our frequent visits to Melbourne.

I am not considered a local even after 44 years marriage to a Melbournian as I don't have a favoured football team.

It is a genetic affliction I believe.

Camera Clinic did a great job replacing the sensor on my M9 this year so I would love to see behind the scenes.

Michael's I know well.

Cheers

Philip

Philip, I have the same affliction as you re footy teams, and I was born here!

I will add you to the dinner list, which needs to be formally booked very soon. Everything else is optional and variable.

Stay tuned to this thread as I update info as it is finalized.

Well, I thought, I just thought could google it myself and stumbled over the Melbourne Film Shooter's Guide....

Still, I would be interested in your personal experiences.

Edit - and a site for the rest of Australia...

Stefan

Stefan, that list you googled is fine. There is a mix of high level Pro labs and VG Amateur labs. However, in your situation when you are here in Melbourne, I think the only convenient lab will be Michael's. The big bonus is at the same location is a great museum that I would have directed you to anyway.. All the other labs are 'out of town' and not convenient travel for you. Anyway, when you hit town, contact me asap and I can direct you to Michael's from where you are staying etc. My Mob. # zero, four, double one, double six, five, two, eight, five.

Internationally, replace the first zero with 61.
