any news on the size of the lens? I was looking forward to this one too

The photos online show the two smaller lenses compact with their focal length set at the widest end.  The 24-90 extends at its long focal length end, something you will never see in Leica's product photos.  Other wide zooms that i have used extend at their short focal length extreme, but only the technical specs document, not yet available, can tell if that is the case for the Leica 16-35 SL.  The 24-90 and 16-35 do both have a slightly expanded edge around the front element, while the fixed-length 90-280 does not.

67mm filter.

Yes, both SL75 and 90 cron are with 67mm filter.

I just got my SL75 delivered yesterday.  First impression:

Very well balanced with the SL body, not heavy, good close focus distance, and AF is decently fast (not lightning fast),

Experienced minor hunting in low light, but overall it knows which direct to go (I just tried for a day)

Hi friend,

I was earlier also thinking of 90, but the price differential between 75/90 is too rich for my taste in Singapore.

So i tested the 75 and found it acceptable.

I am starting my Chinese New Year celebration today (travel) and will be home only mid of next week.

Bear with me so i can try out a portrait at F2.0 with the 75 then.

Cheers!

Benedict

Hi Friend,

I managed aa few test shots...not the best of scene that may demonstrate the capabilities of this lens I think.

My feel is the lens may be too sharp for some liking, like myself, my wife and brother who are all in the silver generation.

Too clinical showing all the flaws of our complexion.

For flowers, hmm... not too bad. I will post later.

Pardon this novice still learning to manage photography.

I just love the IQ and colour rendition of Leica.

I noticed the bokeh produced by APO-SL75 @F2 on taking half length and full length portraits can be quite different. Rather taking full length portraits using the APO-SL90-280VE @F4/280mm can yield pretty interesting results.

I find using soft light to fill in with APO-SL75 balances the high contrast & sharpness of the lens on portriat shots. I still need to use the lens more often to understand it better.

What’s the differential there? It’s only $400 in US, which won’t even buy two batteries.

Hello Jeff,

The pricing from leica store here is 7540 (90) vs 6910 (75). 630 is the difference officially.

For lens, i can import at very attractive prices that increase the difference to say 1000, which i would rather save.

Well, I admit i take the risk of a lemon, and then it has to travel back to origin for remedy.

BTW i do own the APO 90 M cron, so that may be another reason i opt for 75.

Ben
