Advertisement Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Hi haljaberi, Take a look here What will I miss if I get Leica Q over M . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Manoleica Posted August 8, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 8, 2016 Different cameras, you need to decide if a fixed lens suits your photography" Rent both and try them out..
earleygallery Posted August 8, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 8, 2016 The Q would probably be the better choice for close up photos of plates of food as the lens has a macro function, and the EVF shows exactly what you're getting, and the 28mm lens is pretty good for city and landscape shots in general. ramarren Posted August 8, 2016 Share #4 Posted August 8, 2016 Yes, they're completely different cameras. I could do landscape, city, and restaurant food dishes with either of them, but neither is really best suited to all three of those things. You need to do a bit more research and then go look at the different cameras to see what works best for your needs.

I am interested to get Leica, as my brother have the sony a7 and we both share lenses. I curious as M have removable lenses. ramosa Posted August 12, 2016 Share #10 Posted August 12, 2016 Umm ... The capacities to use lenses at non-28mm focal lengths and to employ manual focus in the best possible fashion (imho). And, of course, the true RF experience. These are great factors for some, but not all, photographers. To each, his/her own ... steveBK Posted August 13, 2016 Share #12 Posted August 13, 2016 The weight of the Q is perfect. No fatigue on the neck, shoulder or hand. With a grip & thumbs up the ergonomics are even better. It costs a little more than the M 28/2 Summicron and a lot less than the 28/1.4. Except it comes with a body attached with a better sensor than the M 240. The built in EVF is 2nd only to the SL. The AF is fantastic for mirrorless. I found it no worse than the much praised A7rII and much better than earlier A7 series, my Ricoh GR.. and just about anything short of a pro level DSLR. You get macro and close focus. Lovely for this long time M user.. used to telling my wife to backup a little when we are in close quarter, or standing on chairs to try and take photos of an object on table.. haljaberi Posted August 14, 2016 Author Share #13 Posted August 14, 2016 Have fun with your M 262 , I have both Q and M 262 and love em Thanks for your reply. Kindly, i like to know is it practical for me to start saving for Summilux-M 35mm f/1,4 or Summilux-M 28mm f/1,4. My brother will be giveing me his Zeiss Batis18mm f/2.8 as gift, which will cover the wide lens for me, I presume. I don't want to add another Leica to my collection, I just want to add more fun with my experience of Leica. Also, I really like to own different set of lenses that fit for different situations. Sandokan Posted August 14, 2016 Share #16 Posted August 14, 2016 If you want a simple answer, but the Q now and as your interest in Leica, manual focus and rangefinder photography increases, but the M or SL or whatever is introduced this or next year. Correct me if I am wrong but isnt the Batis in Sony E mount? If so, it wont work on any Leica. Any Leica lenses you buy will work on the Sony. jlindstrom Posted August 14, 2016 Share #17 Posted August 14, 2016 I have the Q and the M. Having spent last 2 weeks in Spain and also the forth coming 2 weeks.. I could have survived with the Q only and miss nothing. The Q is fantastic and I'm specifically making myself pick up the M. However when I do shoot the M, I do enjoy the experience.. but it's exactly that, the experience not so much it peoviding something the Q doesn't. In a way it also goes around the other way, one could go with just the M and not miss anything by not having the Q. It's mostly about the luxury of having both and about having the means to buy both. Fantastic things they are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
G3rald Posted August 14, 2016 Share #18 Posted August 14, 2016 I think everyone sums up quite nicely that ultimately you lose the rangefinder. The Q lasted me for a month. The raw color output in the primary colors always felt too vibrant to me. Could be because it's targeted clienteles are different. And the Q sharpness is unreal. I supposed those are good things for the lots of happy Q owners. But I love rangefinders and that's my decision.
Digitom Posted August 19, 2016 Share #19 Posted August 19, 2016 >>The raw color output in the primary colors always felt too vibrant to me. You can change the colors in the setup menue, from standard to what is fitting to your taste! >>Could be because it's targeted clienteles are different. I think the clientel is same or similar. ALso I do not think Leica is making a camera with color setup for one clientel and another color setup fot others. Is not the Leica Style I think. ALL Leica cameras, although the PanaLeicas, have -in color appearence- a special "Leica Look".Some like this, some not. >> And the Q sharpness is unreal. I supposed those are good things for the lots of happy Q owners. I think the sharpness is one of the main things of a leica camera. Very good lenses with sharpness until the edge. What exactly do you mean with "unreal"? Would be interesting to get more infos from your impression - especially because I assume you are M user?? >>But I love rangefinders and that's my decision. I love EVF .-) Have a nice day, I dod not want to provoke you, just interest to get more information because this is a completely new view and opinion. No provocation felt. =) I speaking about the raw files in terms of color saturation. That is something that your camera color settings do not affect. I thought i wasn't the only one with this opinion, so its not a new view at all. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/248338-leica-colours-whats-up-with-the-green-cannel/ The M dng output on another hand, looks more muted In the green and red channels. This is more obvious on a dull overcast day. I have 2 examples from an m and q, that i can attached as samples once i get back to my desk next week.
