lct Posted June 12, 2016 Share #107  Posted June 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Herr Doctor Karbe doesn't seem able to get away from that pesky trait in any of his Masterly Creations.  At the risk of repeating myself, none of my 21 to 135 Karbe lenses has the least focus shift so far. My Mandler 35/1.4, 35/2 v4 and 50/2 v4 are not free from it but the issue is rarely disturbing if any.
MarkP Posted June 13, 2016 Share #108 Â Posted June 13, 2016 The only Leica lens I own that has significant focus shift is the 1.0/50 Noctilux.
Leicaiste Posted June 13, 2016 Share #109  Posted June 13, 2016 The only Leica lens I own that has significant focus shift is the 1.0/50 Noctilux.   Results with the 1.0/50 Noctilux (E58) greatly improved as soon as I started using it on the SL. lct Posted June 13, 2016 Share #110  Posted June 13, 2016 Focus shift is a lens thing and has nothing to do with bodies per se (i have nothing to teach you Lucien ) but RFs are not always perfectly calibrated so the best way to check focus shift, if any, is to use properly the lens on a good mirrorless camera. What appeared as a big issue to some very rare clueless reviewers may revert to more reasonable proportions then.

lct Posted June 13, 2016 Share #112  Posted June 13, 2016 Well mirrorless are a better measure instrument for sure but nothing can replace a well calibrated rangefinder for those wanting to see the world outside of a mini TV set. Sony A7s lover here .   Since I came back in 2000 from a 3 week travel in the USA  with pictures showing that my M6J rangefinder was no long well calibrated after 10 days of travel, I somehow lost faith in the calibration of the rangefinder.  Fortunately I had also my R8 with me.  I never had trouble with a SLR or DSLR calibration, but I can't say the same about my M's, including the digital ones.  But I loved so much the M's that I couldn't resist using them.  Nothing can replace a well calibrated rangefinder as long as your eyesight is also perfect.

Leicaiste Posted June 13, 2016 Share #115 Â Posted June 13, 2016 You mean no "Lenny Kravitz Scratched Up Edition" [Leica code: "LKSUE"]? Killjoy. Â Â The fact that I don't understand the need doesn't mean I think Leica shouldn't have designed them. Â On the contrary. Â I am very much in favor of any M edition that sell. It means more money for R&D. Â And I have bought my share of special editions myself like the M6J, LHSA etc...
Kolossus Posted June 13, 2016 Share #116  Posted June 13, 2016 Enrique is right. Leicas internet presence is horrible - not only concerning the lens categorys. It is a mess. Zero information.  But lets get back to topic: If I had a wish I did request Leica to give vintage lens designs an overhaul to get prospective lenses more compact again. (even if those became more expensive)  Mr Karbe and Mr Miazaky should do this job together.
IWC Doppel Posted July 1, 2016 Author Share #117  Posted July 1, 2016 Just got my second copy of the Voigtlander 15 III, the first had a problem with focussing as it was loose, it's only useful for me internally with the MM as its too slow, okay outside and it's small and only £500. But if Leica bought out an F2.8 15mm or 16mm my order would go in today !  If they bought out a 16mm SEM f3.8 I wouldn't bother
MarkP Posted July 1, 2016 Share #118  Posted July 1, 2016 Results with the 1.0/50 Noctilux (E58) greatly improved as soon as I started using it on the SL.  OF course because it's focused off the sensor.  Same as when I use it with the EVF on my M240. I don't understand the Kravitz thing either... I'd rather see a Typ 262-like model with a real EVF right from the start, not toward the end of the product cycle. Save the Hermes bling or titanium paint for later. Now a real titanium shell, that would be something... Â And as mentioned above, would love to see very compact, super-high performance lenses that don't need to be fast. Like new pancake 28, 35 Elmars or a collapsiible 50mm Æ’/3.4 APO Super Elmar. Guest Posted July 1, 2016 Share #120 Â Posted July 1, 2016 The present and the past 2.8/28 Asph are not huge. Same regarding the 2/35 Asph. Â Have you tested the 3.5/50 Heliar? Not expensive enough?
