Installed!  Already liking the Exposure compensation dial change.  Frees up a function button.

really surprising how such a small change can dramatically improve usability  :)

Hurrah - flash works properly at last. It seems to have done an FW update as well on the SF58. At the first switch on it did not work but the second time, it all worked and TTL-HSS is now switching on automatically, which it never did before. I can now use the SL for a family wedding along with my M240 on Saturday. I can return the Monochrome 2 to the very kind and trusting friend who lent it to me but I am going to ask if I can borrow his 75 Summicron until Monday, when my wife can return it. I am off down to France, first thing Monday morning.

How can I allocate the rear wheel (only) for exposure compensation. I am using M lenses and was not successful ...

The upper wheel works fine.

Thank you for any advice in advance.

See http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/259283-leica-sl-firmware-v20-answers-our-wishes/?p=3026729 for an explanation of how it works.

In short: you can't do this until Leica adds the ability to customize the dial control assignments for shutter and aperture. With adapted lenses, the upper/front wheel does direct ev compensation control in A mode, and the rear wheel can be used if you enable the function with the EV Compensation menu function for either A or M mode.

  • 4 weeks later...

A person in Munich told me that firmware version 2.1 would soon be released. Does anyone know about it or any features?

I would not be surprised if this made the touted new feature of locking the bottom end of the ISO range in AutoISO in Aperture Priority, actually work this time. I don't quite know how this one escaped seemingly untested. At least I hope that is it, because that will be a very useful feature for me, when it does work.

Normally a short upgrade cycle is either due to bug fixes or to new features that were not fully tested out for the previous release. So hopefully it is the latter

I gave up being a beta tester of firmware and software as I found no attention was paid to any bugs reported. N.I.H. (Not Invented Here) rules. Apple is worse than Leica.

Hmm.  I hadn't used this, but I just tried resetting my min ISO for Auto ISO to 200, and when it needed to increase ISO above that, it did not, remaining at 200 and the minimum shutter speed.  In A mode.  Is that what you are referring to?

Scott,

I think you will find that when you actually try to take photos in brighter light, the ISO will still drop down below 200, even though that is set as the floor and showing as such. I had not noticed that it acted as an upper cap as well, because when I found it did not work as a floor, I gave up using it and went back to my previous methodology of setting the shutter speed at 1/2F, where F is the focal length of the lens at the time. Someone else posted that it worked properly in shutter priority (T mode) but not in A, P or M but I have not tried this.

I also hope that this is fixed. And I would like to get finally tethering (from PC/Mac). Or do you think this is not related to firmware and will come in a different package ?  (But how ?)
