Because of the amount of posts, relating to video, in "New M in September 2016" I would be interested to know how many people who own an M240 have actually used the video function.

For me NO, I've never turned it on.

Be interested in a simple YES or NO.

Thanks & regards to all, Tom

Yes, occasionally, when on holiday - it is perfect to supplement my wife's video camera with long lenses or macro shots.

Additionally, when using the camera as a travel camera (which is one of the legitimate uses of an M I'd say) it can happen that one comes across a situation that is more suited to a small video clip than to still photography.

Also practical for reportage and corporate photography to be able to get a "talking  head" in the material without having to carry additional video gear.

I do not think that a camera with professional aspirations can be without a video option nowadays.

Yes.........Video is a must for a professional camera.  Both the M240 and the SL give excellent quality video files.

In our market (Washington, D.C), believe there is more work for video than stills.  Most professional photographers I know do massive amounts of video for clients who now just expect it as part of the job.

Yes, I once shot some footage opportunistically and the clip proved to be useful as B roll in a short dramatic film, this was the only time I've used the M's video..........But I still do not consider this to be a desirable feature to have in a M.

However I do wish that Leica would enable remapping of the video button to a more useful function.
