I don't understand a thng: by the picture above, I see the adapter from R lenses to M mounted on a SL body: isn't a SL body a body with L bayonet? Thanks. Behind the R-M adapter is an M to L adapter as well.

Or you can use the dedicated Leica R→L adapter with built-in contacts to read ROM information from the lens (if your R lens has a ROM chip, obviously). Because nearly all of my R lenses have ROM contacts, most of the time I use the R→L adapter. The stacked approach is however useful when I'm bringing along M lens(es) to shoot with.  Typically the R→M adapter stays on the lens and the M→L adapter stays on the camera.  You lose any ROM information of course (along with auto lens-identification by the camera), but it can be convenient and slightly faster when changing lenses regularly: eg. between a R-19mm v2 and Voigtlander 40mm Nockton M. Disadvantages with using stacked adapters?  This has been covered extensively in other threads, but basically there can be vignetting with longer R lenses. MattiasAndersson Posted February 12, 2023 Share #24 Â Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) Hi Shepherdphotog. If you look carefully, you also see the M to L (or the equivalent M to TL) adapter on the SL. So two adapters stacked, this was before the R to L adapter was released. (did not see that this had been answered) Edited February 12, 2023 by MattiasAndersson
jaapv Posted February 12, 2023 Share #25  Posted February 12, 2023 But it is crazily expensive. The M to L is defensible but if you have that one any whatever to M will do.
