I like the red hues of the SL. But lately I have seen some macro photos taken with Macro S 120 on an S2. They impressed me.

So I would like to try this lens on the SL. Has anybody here bought the S to L adapter and has tried the S macro lens ? Please come forward and show your results.

Here an example taken with this lens on S2 (I really like the colors and detail of this wild rose):  https://www.flickr.com/photos/royprasad/6300608481/in/photostream/lightbox/

Also the following 5 or 6 macro shots are great (white rose).

Sorry thighslapper, your shot is nice. But compare the S photo to <1706>: There is a lot of differentiation in the red hues of the rose, but I do not know if this is nature or PP or the lens or the sensor or the light or a (polarizing) filter (or the forum restrictions).  :rolleyes:

It's a Begonia in shade ...... colour is virtually uniform in these flowers and there is no modelling because of the lighting. No PP. Only posted to show the fact the SL produces reds that are fairly true to the original and that the red channel is not blown and overexposed as was the case with the M240 ......

Alittle pixel-peeping...

Let's look into resolution and contrast.  I've been pleased with results from the SL and a Vario-Elmar-asph R 21-35.  This lens was made from 2002 to 2009, is quite small and light, not terribly expensive if purchased used.  I compared it with my Summilux-28 M lens on a distant scene with lots of detail (an abandoned village hundreds of years old, crops, caves where one might have hidden from the Romans...):

that one is from the SX-28 f/5.6, reduced for faster download, now a 100%crop from the top of the frame

and a crop from the Vario-Elmar version, also focused on the white letters near the hilltop

VE 21-35@28 f/8

The R lens has a warmer tone, gives up just a little in resolution to the newer M lens, but I doubt that the differences would matter at 1800x1200 and smaller (web-sizes) output.  A full-frame, unreduced version of the scene with a little nicer composition using the Vario-Elmar is at https://www.flickr.com/gp/133969392@N05/4k50ta (35mm), https://www.flickr.com/gp/133969392@N05/15047E (28mm) or https://www.flickr.com/gp/133969392@N05/qkMaH6 (21 mm).

50 Alpa 1.8 on SL

Alpa bokeh by JM__, on Flickr

If I understand correctly, this is a Rodenstock Alpa (Alpagon) 4/50mm midrange lens ?

Works great on the SL. What kind of adapter(s) did you use ?

Or is it something completely different ?   (you say 1.8 ? A Kern Macro-Switar 1.8/50 ?)

Yes, it is a  Kern Macro-Switar 1.8/50  used with a Kipon Alpa adapter to M mount stacked with a M to L  mount  Leica adapter, see the limited depth of field at F1.8 .

Same combo:

I've been distracted by other things for a few weeks and not had much mental space to review the photos being posted in this thread. Coming back to it now, there is some lovely work here! Thank you all for posting it.  :)

I also haven't picked up my cameras much these past few weeks, so I wandered through my archives for a bit and found a set of square ultra-wide shots I hadn't processed. I so love the SL's wide feel with the Super-Elmar-R 15mm fitted and the camera set to square capture:
