Yup :)

Now I have to sell the 90....

That's great. The 75 is more versatile. Before you sell the 90, if you find the time between brain and spine surgery, it would be interesting to see the difference in bokeh between the two lenses wide open. The subject in focus should be equally large in the frame, so you'd have to walk back and forth and check each picture in the EVF by pressing play before half pressing the shutter to frame the next shot with the other lens. The background should be busy. If you don't find the time to do the comparisons, I'll eventually borrow the 75 and post the pictures myself.

No comparison between the 75SL and 90SL, but a shot with the 75SL @ f2 with lots of oof highlights in the background.

90SL @f2... fantastic lens!

KJcLA2p.jpg

Hi Cabe. Nice photo. Thanks. As a users of Leica’s manual lenses, it looks to me that this pic was made with autofocus in operation. The plane of sharpness is resting on the young lady’s eyebrow and eyelashes rather than on her iris. Can you confirm please? If true (as I suspect - why would a photographer using manual focus choose the eyebrow rather than the eye?), this points to a limitation or usage procedure for autofocus lenses. Perhaps the thing to do is use autofocus to get close quickly, then fine tune with manual focus? With this in mind, are the SL lenses well set up for manual override? I understand manual override works through manually instructing the focussing motor what to do. Hmmm - not as nice to use as brass and aluminium rubbing smoothly on each other.

@rick_dykstra

Thanks so much for the comment.

You're right: the plan of sharpness is not on the iris of the beautiful model but this is probably an error caused by me...

The 90SL has a very fast and precise autofocus (I use single-point focusing and the 90SL never misses a shot!), probably, before shooting, I moved my head and the focus was not perfect...

I posted the photo, even if not perfect, because I like its naturalness.

The heat is on - the gin and tonic is there. Blue gin from Reisetbauer, tonic from Fever tree. With SL and 24/90 on a table from a café.
