I saw this on the way to my car after work last evening...

23198321270_b1916686aa_o.jpg
Leica SL + Summicron-R 35mm f/2 II
ISO 2500 @ f/2 @ 1/60

I think it benefits from being printed fairly large, and looks best in the full-resolution image.
I liked the feel of the "grain" (noise) that was produced and did no smoothing or sharpening.

Quick snap this morning while having breakfast at the cafe ...

23499168855_33e42639db_o.jpg

Leica SL + Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm f/2.8

ISO 800 @ f/2.8 @ 1/40

I processed this one from raw using Photos on OS X. I have to say, it did a very good job and was quick and easy to use.

Hello,

I like the SL-Noctilux Combo. The focussing works better than in a Leica M under low light conditions. Here some examples - few noise reduction but (which of course not everyone likes) very much color (Fuji Fortia Emulation)

Best regards

lik

Hi lik. Which Noctilux was this? The one of the guitarist - can you remember the aperture? Thanks. Great shots.

Thanks!  I'm not sure I qualify to review the camera yet!  I've only had it a couple of weeks and those have been spent learning to use it.  I haven't even finished reading the manual yet!  I can tell you that I love this camera, so far.  I had doubts about spending so much money, but my old eyes are having a really hard time manually focusing anything.  I have a huge selection of M and R lenses that I want to continue to use and the idea of using them with the EVF, magnified focusing, and peak focusing was too tempting.  So far, I've tried the camera with the 100 Macro and 19/2.8 R lenses and with the Noctilux, 35/2.0, and 50/1.4 M lenses.  I can focus again!  The bright finder and the ability to magnify the focal point and then zoom back out to take the photo have made it possible for me to even focus the Noctilux accurately.  I do like the 24-90 auto-focus lens even though it is HEAVY!  The focus is fast, accurate, and quiet.  I practiced focusing on my chickens' eyes and they are fast movers!  I tried exposure bracketing and the shutter was so quiet and fast, I thought I had made a mistake and only taken one photo.

The camera itself is not so huge.  When I put an M lens on it, it doesn't seem much larger than my M240.  The real test will come when I take the camera on a trip.  I'm planning a trip to Iran in March.  I hope by then to have finished reading the manual and made using the camera almost as automatic as my old M6s used to be!

Hi Tina,

I know that some consider this sacrilgious but Jonathan Slack, whose opinion I respect greatly, has taken some amazing photos with the T zoom lens.  For those times when you want to travel light and don't need to print at Billboard sizes, they might come in quite handy.

Additionally, in a prior thread on this forum entitled T Lenses on the SL, folks compared the results of taking the same shots a tripod with a T lens and the 24-90 SL lens.  On the screen at least the images were almost identical.  Thus, the T zoom might be a good light lens for some occasions when the light is good outdoors.

Best,

Ed

Another option which might make sense with the SL for travelling light is the late-model R 35-70 + macro/4.0 with which a lot of the pictures in Jono's August 2015 portfolio were taken.  Unlike the R zooms which most closely parallel the two SL AF zooms, this one is much smaller, lighter and cheaper than anything in the SL lens plan.
