SL + 50mm Summilux f1.4 ISO 160 1/400.

Im finding that shooting below 1/60th results in slightly soft images.

I don't see any banding on my display.

Very fine, very regular horizontal lines across the sky as you might get from a poor inkjet print?

I've seen it faintly in one or two others.  I've tried looking closely at photos in the photo forum but can't find it anywhere else.

It's also there in Jono's post 115 for example, and in a few others where there's a fairly uniform background in the mid range between light and dark.

It's not my eyes, but I wonder whether it could be my screen. (I'm looking at a 27" iMac.) I can't find it anywhere else except in this thread, but I'll look more carefully.

PS, i don't think it's the screen as the lines are nor stationary as I scroll the screen as they are on an iPad for example, i.e. they appear as a fixed part of the image, but I suppose they could still be some artefact relating to the colour density or something. Odd.

I see it on my MacBook Pro... but didn't notice until it was pointed out... I just saw a nice picture

Yes, they are nice pictures. I wasn't t looking for faults or pixel-peeping, but they were clear enough to stand out, just.

And once you spot something like that it becomes hard to ignore it. It sort of draws your eyes to it.

Hi Peter H,

I don't see any banding on my display. (Eizo calibrated)

I printed this picture in Din A3 size, and the result was OK

How very strange.

It's probably nothing to do with the camera, but it is certainly there, and is not part of my screen; I've now studied a lot more photos and can't reproduce the effect except in those few photos displaying it in this thread.

Anyway, I'm glad your photos are OK when you print them. I'll try to find out what's going wrong.

Can you see banding in the sky?

Or is it something to do with the way it's loaded to the forum?

Don't judge images posted on this forum. The image size and file size restrictions are a big part of the quality issues. We have to post images under 500kb...far from ideal for a Photography related site.

Totally agree. That's why I asked in the way I did rather than assume anything about the camera.

It does make it very hard, in fact impossible in many ways, to make real judgements about photographs in this sort of context, which is a huge drawback on a forum of this nature as you say.

I'm finding the same. Reminding me how much I've come to rely on IBIS so I've been re-working the breathing technique to get low shutter speed images.

Lovely picture.

Curious, when using C Summicron 75mm how much of the sensor is not exposed or heavily vignetted, as I understand it CS lenses have image circle smaller than 43mm?

I haven't tested all the lenses yet, but the 50mm and 75mm cover full sensor. Im also using the M PL adapter, once I have the SL PL adapter I can give you a better answer.
