How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

Tritentrue,  Your wildlife photographs are superb.   IMO, your current setup with the SL and 105-280 Vario-Elmar-R + APO tele-extender is superb.  I realize it is heavy, but the resulting photographs have great content, color, texture, light, composition, bokeh...all a leading to your creating most excellent photographs.  Personally, I wouldn't change a thing and just keep creating your beautiful wildlife photographs.  r/ Mark

Thank you very much for the kind words.  The 105-280mm Vario is quite a lens, and renders amazing imagery with either teleconverter.  Like its prime cousin, the 280 f/4 APO, it can capture an incredible amount of fine detail in unfavorable light, as in the photo above, which was shot (without TC) in overcast drizzling rain.

Heavy setup, yes:  3.428 kilograms, shot handheld, and I'm not getting any younger! 

Attached is one of my crusty old Collared Kingisher pal from yesterday, this one shot using the APO 1.4X . . .
