First image using new workflow with Ipad Pro, after almost 20 years of Adobe . . . may take me a while to get used to it, but I’ll get there! 😅

And it is  a very good result!
One question in return: Did you do any postprocessing with the pic ( software?)

Edit: It appears that the website is still compressing my files, in this case a 740kb file down to 149kb!  So much for premium membership . . . 🙃

Hi Robert,

Assuming one can adjust to the differences between Mac OS and IOS,  the machine itself is great---fast and easy to work with.  The complaints cited in the review you linked to (difficulty navigating with finger and Apple pencil, problems moving files, etc.) have not been my experience at all, and seem to be due to the reviewer's lack of understanding of or familiarity with IOS.  Adobe is supposedly coming with a full-featured version of Photoshop for ipad in 2019, and this machine seems ready for it.  I can view and process my .dng files with no lag whatsoever.  Both keyboard and processing speed are substantial improvements over the comparably-sized Macbook.

Photo below was processed in Lightroom CC and Affinity Photo . . .

I use the latest iPad Pro 12.9in and am very very happy with it. Fotos.app + LR CC are my workflow with the DNGs. Easy. Fast. Very cool.

How do you get the raw files into LRcc. I'm in the market for a new MBA but since seeing your post you have got me thinking?

Thanks

Neil

Neil ... this has been very easy all along. I use two methods.

1/ Either Fotos.app — connect my camera to the app wirelessly, and transfer DNGs to my iPad’s Photos app, and open them in LR CC app on iPad. This works well sitting in a cafe and sipping macchiato.

2/ Use the UCB-C (or lighting) adapter for SD on iPad [depends what version of iPad you have] and transfer the required DNGs to Photos.app on iPad.

Method 1 is easy and effective for a few images, otherwise the transfer of DNGs is too slow for many. So method 2 is better if I have many images to transfer. Thats’s It!!

Cheers mate.

I have asked a similar question on the digital forum about MBA verses iPad Pro.

I need something for traveling and editing on the go, I currently use a MBP but its a PITA to travel with but it also handled the large H6D files quite easily, so I'm looking for something powerful enough for large files and small enough to not be a PITA if you know what mean

Rob and Meerec,

This is an image thread, so I apologize for momentarily straying from the stated purpose of the thread, but I am curious about the workflow utilizing both Affinity and Lightroom apps on the iPad - specifically how the two apps interact.  Perhaps you could respond via message.  Much appreciated.

I have both Affinity and LR on my iPad pro but stick to LR ...... mainly as the processed iPad LR images automatically sync with LR on my iMac via the cloud and are then available to modify at home when I get there..... The Photoshop fix extension in LR also does a fantastic job at cloning/healing and produces a separate modified version. With the Apple pencil (or even finger) you can do tiny brush adjustments that are impossible with a mouse on a Mac. These days, although I rework images on my home computer I rarely better the original iPad processing that I did while on the road. I'm tempted to upgrade to the new Pro .... mainly because of the increased storage. Affinity on the Pro has more features and flexibility but as I am more familiar with LR and it does 95%+ of what I need I tend to use it in preference.
