I have a love/hate relationship with these insects. I absolutely adore them, in awe. But they give me the creeps, big time.

One of the most under-rated close-up lens combinations. Some photographers ignore the Mk I 50/2 R and Elpros but they give the best 'bang for buck' for close-ups and the results can rival those of e.g. a 60mm R and 100mm Apo Macro 100/2.8 R

Ah, wetas! Lovely!

Agreed and surprisingly good as 'pets' I understand.  A friend of mine had several Giant (Mt Cook) Wetas that used to have free roam of his house.  It was a bit of a shock if one dropped onto your shoulder when you weren't expecting it but they're docile and only nip (carve? ^_^) when accidentally or deliberately attacked.

Pete.

I got intrigued by the close up idea. And was reminded of my 72mm Canon 500D Close Up lens, which I attached through a few step-up rings to the front of my summicron-M 50 on the SL. Here is a result. The magnification is very useful and quality is nice too.
