Was this the 280/2.8 APO-Telyt-R or the 280/4 APO-Telyt-R please?

Pete.

The Apo 280/4. - And actually I had to crop it to 1x1 since I had selected the "correct" lens profile in the SL which currently messes up everything (creates a halo). I did not know I have to deselect the lens profile for time being, so all my shots of the day out where affected. - Anyway, the lens seems a "keeper", I wasn't sure whether I should trade it for the upcoming SL telezoom, but with the two Apo converters I can cover quite some distance. But if the image quality of the telezoom (with image stabilization) is as good as the small one which is available now (I do not plan to buy that one as I prefer prime fixed focus lenses for this range) I might reconsider.

 Would you carry a 280/2.8 up a mountain ??

I get tired just looking at mine ......

As someone who thought little of carrying a full medium format Pentax 67 kit with 4 lenses and a large steel tripod up many mountains at silly o'clock as commitment to the getting picture when I was a little younger I doubtless would have lugged a 280/2.8 up had I had one although I definitely wouldn't now.

Pete.
