Advertisement Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Hi rick_dykstra, Take a look here Leica R and M lenses on the Leica SL (Typ 601). I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rick_dykstra Posted December 6, 2015 Share #162 Posted December 6, 2015 Another question: in thinking about using APO-Telyt-R modular telephoto lenses on the SL, what chance is there that Leica will produce SL native replacements for these lenses? That is, 280 and 400mm f2.8, extendable to 560 and 800, with autofocus, image stabilising, weather sealed, but still perfectly useable as manual focus lenses, with wide open aperture before the shot. And better optical performance to boot. Ooo aah, that'd be nice.

Focus peaking and assist magnification ... What, you want a light that says "You're in focus now"? The only indicator like that I've ever found halfway accurate is the one in the Nikon F6 and D750, which depend upon PDAF, which itself has problems with calibration accuracy the CDAF does not. You had to remember to shut the light shutter on the VF (for more accurate exposure when you were using the remote and did not have an eye blocking light entering the VF) after use, to keep daylight away from the LED strip. lik Posted December 16, 2015 Share #173 Posted December 16, 2015 I have it - and SL plus APO 50 is a very compact combo. I'll come back as soon as I have the time to do some shots with high ISO. IIRC, the linked photo is taken with the APO-Summicron-M f2 50mm ASPH, as are others on the associated flickr site (along with some Sony shots with the lens), which has some rather impressive pics of London, taken by JRP. The original thread is linked below. I'm sure I could see the EXIF data for these shots when I first visited the flickr pages, but now I can't. Don't know why. https://www.flickr.c...03/23519536246/ http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/254009-first-outing-with-the-sl/

gautier Posted December 29, 2015 Share #177 Posted December 29, 2015 R-mount has a 49mm diameter mounting flange, I believe M-mount has a 44mm diameter flange. So yes, there is a potential for shrouding and hard vignetting at both the UWA and long telephoto ends of the spectrum if the adapter tube is not well designed. My recent tests with the R Adapter M don't show any with the Elmarit-R 19 v1 or the Telyt-R 250 v1, which are likely as extreme as I'll use. But there are a bunch of much longer lenses in the R portfolio where it could show up. L (T) mount has a 50mm diameter so it's much easier to design a mount adapter for R that can work perfectly. I haven't try the SL but on a M (typ 240) with the R adapter, the modules Apo-Telyt-R f/4 or f/5.6 create vignetting See this message in French. Another question: in thinking about using APO-Telyt-R modular telephoto lenses on the SL, what chance is there that Leica will produce SL native replacements for these lenses? That is, 280 and 400mm f2.8, extendable to 560 and 800, with autofocus, image stabilising, weather sealed, but still perfectly useable as manual focus lenses, with wide open aperture before the shot. And better optical performance to boot. Ooo aah, that'd be nice. For the replacement, I don't know. But if you want to use your current modular lenses on the SL, try with another adapter than the current Leica. I hope that the "Leica R-Adapter L" will solve the issue. It would be interesting to find out the performance of these limited APO-Telyt-R module lenses in current digital sensor/technology! Thanks in advance! Cheers! Likaleica Posted January 6, 2016 Share #180 Posted January 6, 2016 This isn't the modular system, but the later version of the 280 Apo-Telyt-R with 2X Apo-Extender, so effectively 560mm f/5.6 lens without IS or AF. I'm very pleased so far. Very sharp across the field and even illumination. No vignetting or aberrations that I can appreciate. Canada goose Mallards Wood Duck Welcome, dear visitor!
