Advertisement Posted September 8, 2016 Posted September 8, 2016 Hi lm_user, Take a look here New Leica M in September 2016? The speculations.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lm_user Posted September 8, 2016 Share #1402 Posted September 8, 2016 Cant wait!!! I think I will take better photos with a titanium camera.
jaapv Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1403 Posted September 9, 2016 I only hope the design and features of the next M are correlated with the year of release, at least in regards to the sensor. If they release new M in 2017 with specs defined in 2014/15... ...well, I think you got my point. Not much of a point; all cameras released by all brands have gone through a development time span. Besides, sensor development appears to be slowing down anyway.
mjh Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1404 Posted September 9, 2016 If they release new M in 2017 with specs defined in 2014/15... First you define the specs, then you develop the camera, then you introduce it. Every vendor does it that way, and so so does Leica.
garygraphy Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1405 Posted September 9, 2016 Reduced to the Essentials / Less is More / How Leica leads us to be better photographers: step one: get rid of the EVF (M 262) step two: get rid of the LCD (M-D 262) variant: get rid of the Color (M 246) final step: concentrating solely on the mental perception of focusing and picture taking (No new M at Photokina 2016) Now if they got one that get rids of all three - no EVF, no LCD and no Color - I would be so all over it. The ultimate sucker camera but I would shoot the hell out of it

Steve Ricoh Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1407 Posted September 9, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Actually, they could just ship an empty box, as a true Leica lover will never open it anyway. Need to add a brick for ballast, or at least half a brick
Exodies Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1408 Posted September 9, 2016 Need to add a brick for ballast, or at least half a brick There will be howls of despair from us about the weight then. Quarter brick tops.

MRJohn Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1411 Posted September 9, 2016 Actually, they could just ship an empty box, as a true Leica lover will never open it anyway. Hm, I think this could open the route to air M competitions (analogous to air guitar competitions), exciting prospect!

mirekti Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1414 Posted September 9, 2016 Besides, sensor development appears to be slowing down anyway. That's what I am afraid of. It is something I really want to improve in M. Let me suggest something silly like extra 2EVs for smooth highlights to blown out white transition. Now, that's a feature not a titanium casing. jmahto Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1416 Posted September 9, 2016 My ideal camera : a medium format iPhone Of course. On the same lines, the larger screen iPhone should ideally be large format.... iPad should be VVLarge format. That will be Yuge !! pico Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1417 Posted September 9, 2016 Just to raise a fundamental issue: How can we know that n-percent of current digital Leica users, for example M9 owners are entirely happy, or not with their camera? We may never know due to enthusiasts chasing the latest technology, and oblivious to what can be done with less.
Tailwagger Posted September 9, 2016 Share #1418 Posted September 9, 2016 With the announcement at LeicaRumors of a titanium M240, the rumors have come to an end, and there will be no new M at PK2016 with the exception of this expensive titan version! I sense some joy in this statement, but I can assure you whether you wished for better EVF or DR or a LCD-less mononchrom, the lack of any announcement is a blow to us all, even those happy with the status quo. This thread will live on and on and on, regardless.

We may never know due to enthusiasts chasing the latest technology, and oblivious to what can be done with less. Assuming that less is indeed less, judging by result.
