Rubaga, thank you. This is very kind and helpful. I was looking for the Retrospective 20 the other day as it fits the long 90-280 perfectly. But this seems to work as well the lens sticks out only minimally.

Best, Patrick

So far I had no issues with lens sticking out. And I do travel on bikes and helicopters.

Might I ask how the bag works in rain?

So far I did not get into any substantial rain with this bag. It was mostly inside the bike or heli. The camera and lenses worked great by the way.

I recall with other TT bags that rain cover was provided. This one is not an exception.

Thanks again. Usually I try to avoid bags with supplementary rain protection. Might have to reconsider.

Me too if a rain cover is needed, that is the sale lost for me. Billingham bags are the best that I have used. They are definitely waterproof as I have been out in many rainy days with umbrella up and the bag getting a lot of rain. Hadley Pro takes all of that with aplomb.

OMG, this post has been going for 21 pages.

I would have thought people would choose their own bags.  Me...I use an old Leica leather bag which does it all...and has some style instead of nasty ballistic nylon.

But each to their own, so choose your own!

The only advantage of such a thread is to let folks know about an obscure make or model of bag, which they might not otherwise consider. It also removes some of the trial and error which box shifting dealers are unlikely to assist you in.

Yes, yes, yes, Wilson we know that.

I'm just waiting for the latest crazy from Leica..

Leather undies with the Leica red spot...and for me, a micro 90mm viewfinder attached... :D

all best to you too...

That would discriminate against the Scots wouldn't it?

LOL!

But back to our regularly scheduled thread content:

Finally had a chance to try out the Tenba Cooper 13SLR bag with the SL. It swallows up the camera with SL24-90, Super-Elmar-R 15mm f/3.5, Telyt-R 250mm f/4, and Macro-Elmarit-R 60mm f/2.8 easily, with a bit of space to spare, and proves both comfortable to wear and easy to access the gear. So far (two light rain showers), it's also proven to be very effectively weather sealed even without the add-on rain cover. The 'quiet velcro' works very nicely too ... just pull down rather than out when opening the top flap and there's no noise at all. Build quality seems right up there with the best, although I'll report back on that next decade.

A nice bag, unassuming and reasonably priced.

I stopped by to visit friends who work at Keeble & Shuchat Photography in Palo Alto today.

KSP is closing at the end of the month. :(

As I arrived, I discovered they are having a "discount and no sales tax" closing sale. A couple of Tenba "Cooper 13SLR" bags were still on the shelf. It has enough room to handle a large SL kit with up to three of my biggest lenses (the SL24-90, Elmarit-R 180/2.8, Telyt-R 250/4, Super-Elmar-R 15/3.5, the SL90-280 should I ever purchase one, etc). I'd considered one before—decided to go for it now.

It's a very nicely executed bag: Good and simple design, very nice materials, very nicely made like most Tenba bags. It's sort of like my favorite A&A or Black Label shoulder bag in overall design, the "Oskar's One Day Bag Mark II", but sized up just a notch to accommodate the more SLR-like shape of the SL. It has an externally accessible zipped pocket which can handle up to a MacBook Pro 13" as well, and the padded camera insert comes out as one piece turning it into a nice sized messenger bag carryall for general use. Product page: http://www.tenba.com/products/tenba-cooper-13-dslr.aspx#

I was wondering if this bag would fit my SL/24-90 attached plus a 80-200/4 R lens with the Leica R L adaptor attached.

I am using a Thinktank retrospective 6, I have my SL/24-90 on it's side and the 80-200/4 w/h adaptor standing up which is a touch to long. The Thinktank has zero padding which I don't like at all.  Any other suggestions?

I'm now trying the Frankie Falcon bag designed with Ming Thein for my SL.

So far I like it a lot. I've not loaded it up as much as my Think Tank Retrospective 7 yet so I'm not sure how it will do with more gear. I've been carrying the SL, 24-90, and 35/50 Summiluxes.
