johnnyj Posted July 2, 2015 Share #4 Â Posted July 2, 2015 I wonder how many other digital imaging devices have survived 10 years with the admiration, appreciation and following that the DMR has? Â Johnnyj

fernando_b Posted July 3, 2015 Share #8 Â Posted July 3, 2015 Excellent images all these, however I have not seen the DMR (back element!): I have seen only the Leica cameras. Fernando.
Doc Henry Posted July 3, 2015 Share #9 Â Posted July 3, 2015 Charlie , stunning flower pictures .I like this "soft" side of the flower DMR has the CCD image that reconciles me to digital and much like the film ! CCD images are better than CMOS pictures ("vivid" as said Ewin Puts in CCD versus "neutral"Â Cmos)The DMR images have not "net" lines and edges that I call "cut with a scalpel" (less I say) than digital images compared to the film.Furthermore, Kodak's CCD sensors manufacturer and the colors are much inspired by Kodak Portra IMHO Best Henry
stuny Posted July 3, 2015 Share #10  Posted July 3, 2015 Mine has been resting for quite some time, even though I replaced the motherboard on the DMR and the meter in the R8. Great combination, but I just don't use it any more.
Overgaard Posted July 3, 2015 Author Share #11  Posted July 3, 2015 I decided to send my batteries to refurbishment in Germany. That's the greatest trouble these days, the batteries.
Doc Henry Posted July 3, 2015 Share #12  Posted July 3, 2015 I decided to send my batteries to refurbishment in Germany. That's the greatest trouble these days, the batteries. You're right to continue to keep DMR ... I know you're the "spearhead" of digital Leica cameras but as I mentioned above I find that the film colors are more beautiful (rendering general included). The DMR and R9 or R8 is very close. Sorry for my frankness, I returned now to film with my MP and M7 and soon with the M-A. Best regards Thorsten Henry
topoxforddoc Posted July 3, 2015 Share #13 Â Posted July 3, 2015 Fernando, thank you. Â I'm lucky as I managed to hoard 8 batteries (inc 2 NOS) for my two DMRs. I saw the writing on the wall, when it got discontinued and bought the remaining UK stock. I have had 3 batteries rebuilt so far by Michael Bass and one of the LUF users Marac in London. All of the rebuilds work really well with higher capacity cells. OK, the cosmetics aren't the same after the battery packs have been reopened and re-sealed, but who cares as long as they work. Doc Henry Posted July 3, 2015 Share #16 Â Posted July 3, 2015 A few recent photos made with the DMR: Doug I agree with Charlie soft lines and edges very similar with film .... but it's digital Impressive pictures . Thanks Best regards Henry
wildlightphoto Posted July 3, 2015 Share #17  Posted July 3, 2015 Unfortunately the R8/DMR has put on a lot of weight recently so after next tuesday its use will be limited to no more than 25' from the truck and a Sony a7II will become the hiking / grab-n-go camera. topoxforddoc Posted July 3, 2015 Share #18 Â Posted July 3, 2015 Unfortunately the R8/DMR has put on a lot of weight recently.... Â Doug, Â I know that the DMR is now 10 years old, but that hardly qualifies for middle age spread

Doc Henry Posted July 4, 2015 Share #20  Posted July 4, 2015 Doug, Olympus's remark (March 2009) on the number of pixels is still valid in 2015 . "12 MPx is enough for most folks" http://www.cnet.com/news/olympus-12-megapixels-is-enough-for-most-folks/ The Leica M8 (10MP) always done beautiful pictures especially in b&w ! Another proof , the output of the A7S (12.2 Mpx) You said pixels race ? Best Henry
